OK that's good. It looks like Outlaw72 will be taking the set I currently have, so I'll need to get some more laser cut. I'll get those ordered tomorrow and let you know a time frame.

Nice job on these! :metal: I haven't made Impala brackets for a couple years now, so I'm glad someone else is. I still get PM's asking when I will make another batch, so I will steer them your way from now on!

Thanks for the compliment :)

You did an excellent job on the Camaro caliper brackets. While you were gone and so many were wanting them, I considered making some but I didn't want to do that until I heard back from you. I looked at your design and tried to figure out a different way to make them, but your design is the simplest and just how I would make them. Do you plan to make any more of the Camaro caliper brackets?

Excuse my ignorance, but do you need the impala caliper and disc and they just bolt up? Are the discs 5X5 bolt pattern? Sounds like a pretty sweet setup, I might have to do this to my truck if that is all that is involved.

To do this conversion you basically need the calipers and the factory caliper brackets (or cage as some call them), the brake pads, hoses, and the rotors (yes they are 5x5 bolt pattern) and the adapter brackets from me. There are a few other small items you will need, but these are covered in the list of parts I provide with the adapter brackets. Of course you will need the appropriate master cylinder and proportioning valve (adjustable or fixed) to operate the 4 wheel disc brake system.

The Camaro or Impala's front calipers would match, but I don't know how you would mount them to the spindles on your truck. The biggest issue would be the thicker rotor on the trucks. The aftermarket might be the option for that. I'll have to do some looking and see if there is an OEM caliper that would work.

The 98 to 2002 Camaro front caliper is on a 1.25" thick 12" diameter rotor so it would work on the same thickness truck rotor.

The guys on thirdgen.org have worked out ways of putting these PBR calipers onto their spindles that have cast in caliper mount bosses which could be adapted for use on our trucks too.

This caliper could be used on the 14-bolt rear disc conversion that uses the Dana-44 front rotors if you didn't need an e-brake.

Just a FYI GM used same prop valve for the Disc/Drum B-body they used it on the Disc/Disc B-body. Only 9c1 and SS had rear disc not Roadmasters.

Thanks for the info on that. I'll check into that when i get a chance. My son has a 2000 Z28 so that will make it easy.

Do you still have a set left. will these fit the 1972 5 lug 10 bolt rear end.

Captainfab 12-27-2009 05:06 PM

Re: Impala SS Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Yes I do still have these. They will fit all '63-'82 5 lug 12 bolts as well as the '83 and up 5 lug 10 bolts. Your '72 rear end should be a 12 bolt. Let me know.

do you by some chance have any of these left? these should work just fine on my truck, 10 bolt 87 model, right?

thanks

Re: Impala SS Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Yes they will work, and yes I do have these in stock. I did slightly redesign them though.....just mainly gave them a little more shape instead of just a rectangle. I've just been busy and haven't posted new pics yet. Let me know how you would like to make the payment. I acept PayPal and money orders. You should be able to use a credit card thru PayPal as well.
