60-66 fender

Who has the best fitting and quality fender for the 60-66 trucks? Also, do the replacements come with the brace? My truck is a daily driver so I'm not looking to go real high quality.
Thanks

I would repair your fenders if possible. Replacements might fit okay but the originals will always fit better.

Yeah, I was thinking of fixing my original after reading lots of reviews of aftermarket parts not fitting well. What about the rear brace for the fender? Are the aftermarkets just as bad or are they a good fit? Mine is rusted out on the bottom.

The aftermarkets will have the rear brace, but a lot of people have fitment issues. Some of the issues are minor....holes that are stamped off and such and some are major like nuts welded in the wrong locations or just poor stampings.

Have used new fenders from Brown's of Two Rivers, WI they fit good, very minor tweaking.

The problem I had with new fenders were at the front. Where the piece is spot welded in that should line up with the grill surround, both brands of fender I tried weren't even close to lining up with the surround. Also the gap between the fender and that same welded in piece were uneven. They just didn't look right at all.

If there is any place local that sells them buy one and check the fit, most places are really good about returns. I returned both that I tried

I got mine from fixmyrust.com and they fit good. The front of the drivers side has about a 1/8 inch gap but it's a driver not a show truck. 179 per side free shipping.

Thanks for the replies everybody. Closest place to me is Impala Bobs/ Bobs truck parts. I may see how his are. Has anyone used his stuff? I read a couple of bad reviews online, but...

Re: 60-66 fender

Hey I have just been through this trip - and learned a lot! I had some repops (after painting :barf:) that just would never have looked right. The thing with originals is that they are generally pretty messed up on the back rear cause the structure tends to retain mud and rust from the inside. Unless you have some cherries, there is lots of repair. My final and unfavorable solution was to graph the backend of the repops to the front ends of some originals to get fenders that actually fit. So recommendations: Depending on how nice you want of a finish product - find some excellent originals that are solid on the inside. You can handle some external patch work. Or some good repops and deal with a bit of fit issues. I don't have experience with AMD, but I'd be inclined to try them cause they are legit suppliers: http://www.autometaldirect.com/body-...-23_72_73.html

Good Luck,

Scottie

Thanks Scottie
My fenders are in pretty good shape except for the holes at the rear. My dad, and now I always hosed out the rear side whenever we had mud or whatever in there so the backs are clean. I'll get some patch panels for the bottoms then have them sprayed with bed liner for protection.
