case length is longer on the 4l80 over a th400 .

but your old 400 has a long tail shaft / housing . so the 4l80 fixed yoke is shorter .

thats why its different for the length .

not nit picking your info . but just clarifying for other people later who will find this in a search .

pics with specific info .

i like the build direction with efi and overdrive . helps a lot on long hauls .

We measured for the relocated cab mounts today and figured lifting points for the C50 cab. That swap will all go down The first weekend in October. Getting close!

The fore truck rolled in a cab and chassis and rolled out a frame. The wedge rolled in lacking a cab and she is now one!! Rottenwood Garage marries another one!

The next 2 days will be spent making mount brackets, attaching the cab and then moving it out of the 2 post bay over one and getting it up on jack stands so plumbing and wiring can begin!! Pictures to come!!

All body mounting systems have been fabricated, installed and heavy tacked in. Radiator installed, transmission cooler lines ran, oil cooler lines hooked up, radiator hoses hooked up and fan shroud along with upper rad mounts are being looked at for options. The front bumper was removed from the fire truck and hung on the C30 for measuring how much frame had to be removed up front. The engine/computer harness should be done and installed next weekend and we will probably put the third member back in and hook the drive shaft up.
We still hope to hear in run and see the wheels spin by Christmas!! Sants needs t bring me a Lokar shifter for a 4L80!!

No pics of wedge but a few from the weekend

pics 1 and 2 in my plow truck th400

pics 3 - 5 are in new work truck build with 4l80-e

installed the nostalgia for both trucks .

4l80-e was so far forward to fit in 4 speed hole i had to get a bell crank kit for the 700r4/4l60e and modify it slightly . but this made it work like butter .

We didn't tackle anything heavy yesterday but spent about 10 hours on little stuff. Straightened the bumper and finished hanging it, installed the AC compressor and serpentine belt, finalized and installed radiator. Plumbed trans lines, oil cooler lines and radiator hoses and worked on fan shroud. That will need a little more work.

I've lived in the Atlanta Metro for 30 years (unfortunately) and this is the most snow we have had at once, It was nuts as they called for a dusting!!!!

Lokar shifter installed. Fluids topped off and harness going in on Saturday.

looks like the shifter needs to move up a set of holes or 2 . then adjusted for position .

otherwise i like it . makes them look like a old 4 speed but automatic .

took me a bit of tweeking and adjusting and even a bell crank kit from them on this combo of full custom

That would make a dent even up here in Detroit.
