.005 oversize rings on std piston ? SBC
I have an engine that sat with water in the cylinders causing some pitting, honed it to clean up, was rebuilt recently with std pistons, I don't have a bore gauge but measured ring end gaps and they seem a little wide, .028, Should I try to find some .005 oversize rings? Daily driver not a race vehicle.

If you are that curious, buy a set for one piston and check the cylinders at bottom of ring travel. I suspect the gap will be overlapping. A gap of .028 on a rering should get ya going for a while, but it is not going to be perfect.

Need maximum results? Stop guessing and research basic 350 sbc builds. Boring the worn, damaged block w/a torque plate will ensure the bores are straighter than factory. Smoother running, more efferent. Patch it and go, or save up and have a far better engine.
