1970 GMC JIMMY 4" lift or 6"?
 

does anybody have suggestions regarding using a 4" or 6" lift to fit 35x12.5R17 tires? i am planning on using reverse shackles (good for 4" of lift) from Off-Road Design for the rear suspension but if a 6" is necessary i will order rear springs with extra 2"

getting ready to put 4 in lift on my blazer. I am getting a 4in front and rear leaf spring kit from BDS. Only reason for BDS is a high end local shop only uses them. So the price is comparable to the others. It has 6 in lift on it now and its stiff. Shakes your teeth

From my experience, if you plan on taking the Blazer off road at all, go with a 6" lift. Otherwise, you will get rubbing on the front fender during full lock turning and minor compression. If cruising on the street is all you do, a 4" lift will clear the tires.

If you want a softer ride than most 6" spring lifts will give you, try Skyjacker "Softride" springs. They have more leaves per pack, but the leaves are thinner.

4 inch front plus ord extended shackles. Gives you 4.5 inch lift in front and the lift kits come with a 6 inch rear for first gen blazers. That way it gets rid of saggy butt rear end. So go with the shackle flip with 2 inch lift springs. Youre going to need to either shim the axle or cut a reweld the perches to get the ujoint angles correct. That or a cv rear shaft if it has vibration. That's what I have with 35x12.5 tires and no rubbing. The rear end sits slightly higher in the rear but with the top on it sits pretty level. I have a double wall so it's fairly heavy and compresses the rear springs so it sits nice. I also trimmed the front fang back a bit also on the fenders.
