Newer OEM Chevy/GMC 6-Lug rims on 67-70 trucks?
Hello Everyone,
I've been looking around for an extra set of wheels for my 70 6-lug truck. I'm mainly interested in the newer 17" Chevy stock wheels but as I learned while trying to put them on they did not fit the center hub. My hub measured approximately 4" outer diameter. The 17" rims had approximately 3.5" or less. They look like this. http://www.edmunds.com/pictures/EI/2...20161602-T.jpg Can anybody show some pics of trucks with with newer 6-Lug OEM style wheels on their older trucks like mine and please explain if possible what was done to make them fit. |

You have to have the center bore of the wheel machined to the bigger size or run a set of adapter/spacers.
These new wheels have a ton of backspacing so running a set of spacers may solve both problems. |

I have been wondering about how it would look to have the newer OEM wheels on my 66! Any pictures would be great!!!

Not a lot of guys run the 6 lugs. You need longer studs, spacers, and/or the hubs machined to fit.

I tried to use them and they did not work for me. Not worth the money to have them machined and look bad because of incorrect offset. Better off buying aftermarket rims or maybe wheels off the older Toyota 6 lug steel wheels.

2000 Suburban rims on my '69.
I used 1 1/2"(I think) spacers and never had any problems. P.S. the .50 Caliber is photoshopped:lol: |
