Points Ignition wiring

Hello. Getting familiar with a truck I'm about to restore and I'm having ignition troubles. Will start sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. I found the wiring diagram but have a question. In the area I circled in red, does the yellow wire tie into that orange/purple or do they just share a harness? Any help would be appreciated!

Pretty sure the yellow wire connects to the orange/purple wire. Let's see what others have to say.

That connection might be at the coil or at the starter terminal, it should be two wires at either terminal if I remember correctly. What that does is: when the starter engages it will supply 12v to the coil for a hotter spark while cranking. The 12v power to the coil comes from the starter during cranking only. With the key in the run position you no longer get the 12v power connection from the starter however, the wire will be energized within the circuit as it should be energized by the resistance wire to the coil.

Hope this helps a bit.

The yellow wire is hot during cranking (from solenoid "R" terminal), the white/orange/purple wire is hot with the ignition in the run position. The solid purple shares the harness to the starter; it does not feed the ignition in the run position. It goes to the "S" terminal on the solenoid to run the starter.

Ok, I know how the starter hooks up, I was just curious about the yellow to orange/purple as pictured. Someone has previously worked on mine and I wanted to make sure it was wired up correctly. But what I've gathered is that the yellow wire does connect the orange/purple as pictured. I replaced the starter solenoid today and I think that resolved my starting issues. I appreciate everyone's help!
