Can anyone explain how this gap is so large & how to even it out it's a 1972 with a 70 grill.

Are those 68 instead of 69-72 fenders? And welcome to the board.

The 69-72 fenders have a recess formed in them to accept the grille shell. I have a 71 Blazer with a 68 fender. Someone has mashed the grille shell on the fender to try and get it to fit. Here are a couple of pictures of a 69-72 fender. Hope this helps.

Thanks John
Can you put a 67-68 hood on there & then it would fill the gap?

Looks like wrong fenders to me as well.

No, you can not just add a 67/68 hood, that won't fit either.

I also noticed no trim rings around the headlights... probably because they didn't look right... probably a 67/68 core support as well. They look set farther back, like they are for 67/68 trucks.

I think you can see it has side marker light on the fenders.....maybe someone has cut these in or are they factory

Does anyone have pics of a 69-72 with a 67-68 hood?
Thanks in advance

Re: giant hood to grill gap?

They are 68 fenders now that I looked further , markers were always there & it seems to have a 67-68 core support also & 69-70 grill
But I do like the 67-68 hoods what are my options with this 72?

Re: giant hood to grill gap?

Get a 67-68 hood and grill I guess is your only option unless you want to paint and install a new set of fenders.

Re: giant hood to grill gap?

Just a 67-68 hood won't work by itself. He will have to change the grill, park lamps, hood latch, hood latch support, and possibly the core support, unless it is already a 67-68. WES

Re: giant hood to grill gap?

If that's a 69/70 grille made to lay over '68 fenders the 67/68 hood will come to beyond the back side of the grille. Get me? The front edge of the hood is as long as the fenders. I'd go back to the '68 grille and hood as suggested

Re: giant hood to grill gap?

I don't think so... it looks smooshed on there pretty good, I think the 67/68 hood still wouldn't fit behind the grille.

Check this awesome truck out:

Honestly, if they didn't damage the hell out of the fenders installing that grille, and you already have a 67/68 core support, I'd made the truck look like a 68. Good used hoods go for $100-150 and used 67/68 grilles go for about the same, maybe a little more, but good ones are hard to come by... but then again, all you need for yours to work right is 2 fenders and a core support... may be about the same cost-wise. I guess this all depends on what you like better.

Thanks for all the great input I'm getting here.
I should have joined a long time ago.
I'm really digging 67-68 hood & grill anyway.
