Well after several rounds of back and forth, I finalized a deal on my next project. A super nice 86 Silverado from a small farming community just north of me. I'm finishing up a game plan and ordering parts this week. More details to come as I get started.

Time for a quick update on Macon county. I decided on my normal 4.5/6 drop with a mixture of McGaughys and Western Chassis components. 2 1/2 drop spindles with cut springs, rear flip kit with 1" shackles and KYB shocks all around complete the package. The tear down was interesting to say the least, I found a main leaf broke on the rear drivers side. In over 20+ trucks that was a first and caused a week delay in getting repaired. During the delay I finished up the front including brakes, upper ball joints, and fender well detail. Once the rear leafs were ready the back was completed and received the same detailing. I'll apologize in advance on the lack of detailed pics, my 5 year old decided I suck at taking pictures and deleted about 20 of them. So with the stance on point and everything torqued to spec that stage is complete.

Clean, clean looking truck. Digging the wheels with the stance.

Here's a vote for no trim. I like em clean. That's a sharp little truck.

I moved on to the interior next. The inside in a nice mix of original and new pieces. The seat and dash have been replaced but everything else was original and in perfect condition. So basically a deep cleaning, dying of a few parts, and a new 1 piece floor mat was all that was needed.

After the interior was finished I moved to the A/C. As with most of my builds, I prefer to replace everything in the system. I started with an updated 134a condenser, new compressor, new hoses, heavy duty fan clutch, red Ford orifice tube, and new receiver dryer. The system sealed up tight and held 29in of vacuum overnight. With the proper charge of Freon my manifold gauge readings were great and I'm getting 42-44 degrees at idle and 40 running down the road measured at the center vent. That was followed with a quick detail on the engine bay to bring this stage to a close.

So this basically brings Macon County to a close. I have an appointment next week to have it wet sanded and buffed. I'm pleased with how it turned out and It's one of the best driving trucks I've had. It's absolutely laser straight and has one of the best tailgate bands you can find. Not a speck of rust anywhere and the under carriage has been cleaned and painted in the past.

Simple and to the point. Dang near perfect.

Just the stance and wheels did wonders for this truck!

Curious as to what 134a condenser you used? Why the red ford orifice tube?

Thanks aggie. The condenser is a parallel flow and 100% bolt in (link added). The Ford orifice tube has a little bigger opening than the original white GM tubes that were designed for R12.

No sir, nothing new. I've been out of commission since late October due to a nasty dirt bike crash. I ended up with a broken shoulder/arm that's been very slow to recover from. I've been medically cleared to resume normal activity but still have a few months of rehab left. I hope after I gain a little more strength and range of motion I'll be ready to dive into another. I'm mentally ready for sure.

Sorry to hear about your injury. That rehab is rough, but needed to recover fully. Looking forward to your next one!

Sorry to hear that. Hope you get better soon and back to doing what you love. I enjoy watching all your flips.
