67-72 chevy crew cabs
hey evewryone!,
in the past couple of days i have been coming this forum for info on the illusive forest service and government aftermarket conversion crew cabs. i have also been looking for them online with no luck except for a sighting of big c50 i think in ohio (thanks to a fellow board member). anyone know any good places to look for these trucks? websites?, currently own one? i am dying to get a hold of one of these things! i know their ugly but i think that one of these would be a great project base for a "mega cab" chevy. if anyone has any info on them i would greatly appreciate it! tim |

Re: 67-72 chevy crew cabs
wow!....
u have some sick rides there!... i really like the full crew in process of completion there! i like the extended cab grey one alot. is it completed? the interior shots may not be doing it justice...but it doesnt look quite done yet. is it new paint on the exterior? being me i would repower it with a duramax/ allison combo and convert it to 4x4 with a mild lift..... where are you located? i am looking for a full crew cab truck but the extended cab truck is sick as well... |

I am in Vacaville so not too far from you. The grey one is done, I actually use that one a bunch. The blue crew cab is not done but the plans for that were for a fuel injected 454 with a 4L80E trans. |
Re: 67-72 chevy crew cabs
i am in the process of finishing up my college carreer....and am looking ofr a cool project to occupy my down time after work. i wanted to do something that was unique and rare and these trucks definitly fit that bill. i dont have the money right now to buy any thing but that will soon be a thing of the past. just out of sheer curiousity would you ever be will to part with your blue crew?
i know how hard it is to part with somthing you really like, i had a 1972 cheyenne k-10 and sold it for chump change when i was young.....it hada tpi fuel injected motor and 8 in of lift and was always a work in progress. thanx for the pix of your trucks its really cool to see some of the projects on here! tim |
Re: 67-72 chevy crew cabs
I might sell the truck before finishing it but after I finish it and my grandsons ride in ti that might be impossible.:metal:

Re: 67-72 chevy crew cabs
There's a 4 door crewcab that pops up for sale here locally...it's in and out of the local 4sale mag. It looks like a forestry/2cab conversion...it has the big triangle between the side windows.
They seem to want a bit much for it, iirc...like $6-7k. But, I've seen it for close to a year and maybe they're ready to make a deal. I can keep an eye out if you like. Limited photos but looked fairly straight. |

Re: 67-72 chevy crew cabs
Why don't we start a tread on where to find crew cabs or extended cabs?

Re: 67-72 chevy crew cabs
So did a new thread get going on the selling and buying of the 67-72 crewcab? I'm building a 72' crewcab that will be absolutely bone stock original if they actually built one from the factory. Building it on a 3/4ton 4wd platform, 4 speed manual. Already stretched the frame and you couldn't tell by looking at it. Have cab built and working on 4th door right now.

Re: 67-72 chevy crew cabs
I love this thread! I really like when the fourth door is added and rounded off like a pickup door.
Hey Hartrod, do you still have yours? Any progress? atvpro, WELCOME to the board, you neeed to post some pics of your truck:) |
Re: 67-72 chevy crew cabs
How does one go about getting that drivers side rear door. Is it just a ton of fabrication, or did they offer 4 door suburbans?
|
Re: 67-72 chevy crew cabs
Thanks for the interest, just came in from the shop, have been working on the roof. On this particular cab I am putting a roof skin from a 1 ton with clearance lights. Regarding the question on the 4th door, in my world you can't call it a crewcab without a 4th door. I am building the door from scratch basically building a mirror image of the other side. Will try to get some pics up soon, at first they will be out of order since I lost some of the first pics. This is going to be an olive green two tone when complete, also this truck is 21ft long bumper to bumper.
