That sure is a lot of weight, but talk about dangerous, he was force to the left side of the road, hidden by the hill top, with a car approaching from the other way!! Hope they had a flagger on the other side.

You're right. I figure they had traffic stopped. Probably what that truck at the bottom and that van were doing. looks like he started off on the left. I see loose stone on the right. That weight wanted to go back where it came from. Talk about light on the front wheels!

a notch or two further forward with the fifth wheel and that don't happen

Based on how many axles that trailer has, I'm thinking they were as long as possible to distribute weight.

Tractor brakes (left and right) would've come in handy for keeping it in the lane.

I was thinking steering brakes would be the bees knees. But, why put those on so it can do what you hope to never do? Definitely a weight distribution issue going on. See how it lifted to clear the belly? It's a cool little clip, no matter what

Yep, that's a sweet trailer. That crane's gotta weigh a bunch!

Could you imagine holding that much weight back goind down hill ?

Re: Got Torque?

I'm gonna bet that truck doesn't have a slush box in it.

The thought of rain or dust would probably make me soil my shorts hauling something that heavy.

I'm also thinking that trailers got some pretty substantial brakes. Missing a gear could get ugly quick with that much pushing ya. Much safer to have it holding back a little instead.

I wondered about getting down the other side, too.

I used to work with a crane, without it's counter weights was 120,000 IIRC. Been 7-8 years so could be wrong. Either way heavy!!!
