Dirty Intake manifold

Do I get the reward for the dirtiest intake manifold of the week. I am really slowing down in my old age. It took me 6 hours to change stocker to edelbrock Performer intake. I forgot how heavy the stock intake is, which alone makes it worth swapping.

The weight is considerable! And your stocker was filthy.

Looks like it was pretty clean under the carb and inside which is where it counts the most. Looks like valve cover gaskets maybe your new best friend though, so that your new intake doesn't look like this one... in 35 years or so.

The reason I head to the spray wand car wash with a can of engine cleaner and pocket full of quarters if the truck runs before I tear it down.

That one looks like it was on one of the field rigs on the farms around here.

Yeah my Dad let this truck sit for a long time. I hate having a clean spot and now the rest of the motor is screaming to be cleaned. I did change the valve cover gaskets and put some shiny chrome covers. I am old school and still like some chrome under the hood although I did paint the Edelbrock intake corporate blue. I also got rid of egr and a TVS switch
