On a hot day just go to a wrecking yard and collect the stuff for free from some newer cars!! I love this stuff! One small square of it will make a huge difference. In new cars you find a foot square for every 5-6 square feet it is that effective! Great find though. I didn't know you could buy it at the local hardware store! |
That is a good oe.I had never seen nor heard of that stuff.I use to buy Q-pads that fiberglass evercoat made, could be purchased at bodyshop supply stores. They came in 12x12 squares.I am sure the roofing stuff is cheaper also. Will have to give it a try. Thanks for the info.

I did the same thing on the doors of my 77 Cheyenne. I used a product called Brown Bread that is normaly used by car stereo installers.
It made an amazing difference in my truck. The cab is so much quiter, and the doors sounds very solid like an new high end car would..... |
Does the roofing material have any odors? I used the brown bread stuff or a similar product and their advertisements stated that the roofing products had some chemical additives that had a strong odor. I didn't know whether to believe that or not.

I have heard that there is a tar odor from some of the roofing material. I can't verify that though. Here are a few threads that I have saved pertaining to sound deadening materials.

I am a Roofer. I used a product by IKO called ICE and water shield in my 84. It worked awesome. Way more enjoyable ride. Much cheeper than Dynamat. Ice and Water does not have a smell to it. Shingles will have a slight smell for a little while. Most of the peal and seal and quick roof products are a rubber/mastic. Very little if any odour.
