Stretch Cab 46
1 Attachment(s)
I am planning on stretching my 1946 Chevy truck cab but would really like to see what it should look like. The picture I have is from a car show and is not my truck. If you can, I would like to see what 6 inches added to the doors would look like. The plan is to cut the doors and add 6 inches and then make the cab fit around them. I do not want to chop the top unless it would look better. I am also planning to go with a dark blue color if that is possible. I hope someone can help. Thanks for your time and effort in advance. No my truck is going to have a period correct bed or 1947-53 Chevy truck bed but that is the only side view picture I have of one of these trucks. My truck is disassembled and the only picture I have of it does not have a bed or front end. I was hoping that picture would work to give me an idea. This picture is the closest thing I have to the bed I want to use (I do not have a bed yet). Thanks again for your time and if you have anymore questions please ask.

Nice job LONGHAIR. It looks more proportionally correct than factory to me. |
Re: Stretch Cab 46
It really looks good with a little longer cab/doors instead of an extended type cab. Great Job!

Re: Stretch Cab 46
Thanks, I like it and agree that it looks more like what it should than the original. I have not decided on wheels yet. The only problem I have is that the second picture was just for an example of the bed I was wanting to use and it is a newer body style, the first picture is the correct year truck that I am working on. The truck you changed is a buddy of mine that wished he had stretched the cab so he will be excited to see what the change would have looked like. I still get the idea and think the other body style will look good to. Thanks again for your time and effort, I think it really looks good. Todd

Re: Stretch Cab 46
Looks close enough for me and once again you can not even tell that it is stretched. All you guys are great. I would love to own both of these trucks and I hope when I get done with mine it looks as good as these do. Thanks again, Todd

Re: Stretch Cab 46
Thanks again LONGHAIR. I just can not believe that the stretched cabs look more correct than the original. I personally like the look of it stretched in the door more than the small ext. cab side window some have used but if we all liked the same thing it would be a pretty plain world. The back of the cab will need to be widened also. After I find out how much wider it needs to be, is it possible to widen a cab from a rear view picture (on or off the frame) and then place on my regular frame without widening the frame and the bed? I do not care about colors. I did not think it could but I thought I would ask what you magic workers could do. Thanks, Todd

Re: Stretch Cab 46
Most stretch cabs dont look good because it skews the proportions. In this case the nose is so lokg that the cab look too small and rounded. If your body man can get the shape correct the longer cab will add some symetry to the overall proportions.
All that and more leg room too... Posted via Mobile Device |
