Sway bar

A friend of mine is building a 67 c10 but is very limited on his budget. He is planning to get everything he possible can from a local junkyard.

The part he is looking for now is the swaybar and The problem he is having is the local junkyards around us only have late model cars and trucks. Nothing older than probably 1998.

Does anyone know what he can get the swaybars off of that would be best for 67 c10? Thanks

1 1/4" front sway bar off of a 73-87 fits factory location , No rear sway bars from the factory were offered but some guys use the rear off of a 90's model Camaro berlinetta . :chevy:

Redneck Rydes,
Did you put the front sway bar from a 1 ton dually also on a C10, or a K10?
Thanks,
Terry

Here is a link to a very old thread but still very relevant and timely. Front Sway Bar is one of the best bang for the buck upgrades.

Here is another link for the Hellwig Rear Sway bar. I just bought one of these for my truck but haven't installed it yet. Yes its pricey but Summitt Raclng sells it for quite a bit less with free shipping.

I used the rear bar from CPP for mine (CPP7401). It's 1-1/8" and is $140....much better than that Hellwig one smh. I installed front and rear bars at the same time and what a difference it made.

Just wondering why you say the CPP bar much better than the Hellwig Rear Sway bar ? If your taking price yes its much cheaper but other than that I'm not sure.

Yes, I'm talking about price. No need to spend $525 when you can spend $140 for something that looks exactly the same. Actually, I just looked again and noticed the part numbers are the same. Hmmm, that's a helluva markup if they indeed are the same part.

Got me thinking why the Hellwig is so much more than the CPP bar. As far as pricing goes you can buy the Hellwigs for 375.00 at SummittRacing and other vendors as well but that is still a substantial difference in price. When you mentioned the part #'s were the same I thought maybe CPP was buying the Hellwig rejects and reselling them. Then I looked at the pictures on each vendors website and noticed lots of difference in configuration of the rear sway bars. There are more pieces with the Hellwig and looking at the different shapes and hardware I'm sure the bars mount in different places.. The CPP bar is the one pointing more outward.

I have one I found on the parts boards, but have not installed it yet. I will be installing it with the front power disc brakes. Should be a major improvement all at once!
