Bring dads truck from 1995 to 2010 Project
This is a special truck to my dad 95 silverado he special ordered in 1994. Took 4 months to get here and its a s 95 silverado with the 350 to a 5 speed with 3.73 gears. Very rare truck. Well im making this into a Father/Son project plus since I sell djm/belltech stuff perfect time to make it handle great. I've been doing these trucks since 95 so I know the in and outs on them and making them a great handling truck.
Anyways hes been using this truck for the past 15 years and has headers/intake/full exhaust etc and he got into a accident. Perfect time for my father and I to do a project together and get it up to date for him. He hit a lifted ford ranger so completely missed his front bumper/frame but took out what you see in the pics. So the frame is cherry. The outside of the truck will have a new front clip on it but doors and bed etc are still stock so we will wet sand and buff it and try to get it the best we can. Im sure down the road ill end up repainting from front doors back anyway. The body is very str8. few minor dings and scratches but its allways garaged he never leaves it outside overnight. I wanted a project to be simple and clean. no 4/6 drop since he uses it for work just something minor with a nice tire to fill up the wells so here we go. Mods will be EXTERIOR Color matched door handles color matched tailgate handle color matched mirriors front bumper no hole painted to match color matched rear bumper painted grill to match 2.5 inch cowl hood All clear headlights HID 5000K kit all bulbs will be chrome but look amber when light up. chrome chevy bowtie painted all light bulb housings in silver to look cleaner when put into the euro headlights ALL TRIM REMOVED. Entire frame of truck was cleaned and painted Flat black. Fenderwells/springs and all suspension. Exhaust will have to be changed painted muffler black but pipes behind it are rotted out so doing turn downs by the rear spare tire. Suspension DJM Front Spinldes Rear Hotchkis 4 inch drop leafs DJM Rear Lifting Shackle Front Belltech Swaybar 1 3/8" Rear Belltech Swaybar 1" Rear Edelbrock Shocks (29 bucks I have a hookup) Wheels/tires Boss Motorsports 338 in Gray 20x8.5 front/20x10 rear 275 45 20 front 295 45 20 rear Engine Edelbrock Headers with y pipe High flow cat Flowmaster muffler and will be cutting rotted pipes out (thats why i didnt paint em black) and doing turndowns after the axle Ill keep you updated. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...F/IMG_0548.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...STUFF/ati2.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1.../photoD3-1.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...F/IMG_0563.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...F/IMG_0561.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...F/IMG_0560.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...F/IMG_0559.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...F/IMG_0608.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...F/IMG_0607.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...F/IMG_0606.jpg |

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...F/IMG_0638.jpg painted rotors/calipers/drums semi gloss been doing this for years keeps rust off the rotors and it still stops fine. The paint comes right off with the pad leaving the rest in nice shape http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...F/IMG_0640.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...F/IMG_0641.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...F/IMG_0642.jpg his 275 60 15 compared to my extra 285 35 22. the 275 45 20 will be almost the same height which will look good and then in rear the 295 45 20 is 3/4 of a inch taller so will fill the well nicely http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...F/IMG_0643.jpg |

Great looking truck, and I'm a sucker for the 5-speeds. I've often wondered about painting my brake hardware, too. That looks really good.

Re: Bring dads truck from 1995 to 2010 Project
Nice project. Been wanting to do a father/son project with my dad for years but right now we're seperated by 12 hours of driving so I just bought (another) project this weekend. He's already talking a little competetive trash on who will get their's up, running and ready to roll the quickest...seeing as how he's had his truck for 20 years now.
So who did you source the hood, fenders and grill through? We're both wanting to upgrade our pre-95 grills to the better 95+ w/ billet. |
Re: Bring dads truck from 1995 to 2010 Project
The front clip i got at a local junkyard for 200 bucks
hood i got from the guys that started their own company that used to work at year one and goodmark. |

Re: Bring dads truck from 1995 to 2010 Project
I like it! My '96 Silverado extended cab was that shade of green, with the gold/tan below the lower reveal line....like a bunch of 'em around then.

Re: Bring dads truck from 1995 to 2010 Project

|
Re: Bring dads truck from 1995 to 2010 Project
hotchkis leaves ride a lot better i took ti for a ride tonight
|
Re: Bring dads truck from 1995 to 2010 Project
just a quick update took the truck for a ride and even with alignment off rides a lot better than before. it also sat down more
with 275 45 20 and 295 45 20 and front just djm spindles and rear hotchkis leafs with djm lifting shackles it sits at 31.25 in front and rear 32 inches from ground to fenderlip which is perfect. Ill have my dad drive it about 1000 miles so the rear leafs settle down but with the rear hotchkis leafs/djm lifting shackles/edelbrock shocks/belltech rear swaybar truck rides great I should have the front grill on the truck tomm pics for now this pic is right after it came of the jackstands http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...F/IMG_0673.jpg now here are others after i finally drove on it http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...F/IMG_0679.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...F/IMG_0678.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...F/IMG_0677.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...F/IMG_0675.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...F/IMG_0679.jpg HIDS http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...F/IMG_0674.jpg |
