Update on my new dual snorkel air cleaner. Drove it last night for the first time since putting it on and exactly what I was looking for. Only time you really hear any intake noise is when you are on it with the secondaries open. Otherwise pretty much as quiet as the stock one. And I know the engine is getting as much air as needed now.

Got busy and slung some filler on the speaker hole repair, put seam sealer on the door bottom repair, and rattle canned some DupliColor on everything. Paint doesn't match very well but hey she's a driver

Nice work RodnRudy.... One would never know there was a gaping hope in the door unless you show them.;)

Never have liked intake noise so I took off the open element air cleaner and the stock single snorkel air cleaner really impacts performance above ~3K so I put a repo dual snorkel air cleaner assembly on. Not sure I like the how it looks.

Dual snorkel made from the two bbl single snorkel.

Over the last few days installed the intake, finished the brake lines. Installed mounts to block, and the engine perches loosely. Installed bumper stops, finished painting heads, installed transmission mount, positioned the frame and lots of prep for tomorrow. We're dropping this and the transmission tomorrow, and not literally.

Bugs me the hoist won't center over the block while it's on the engine stand, legs are in the way. There might be enough room to help support the block using the transmission jack. Either way we'll make it work, so is the plan.

Milestone today, we got the engine/trans. installed. It was as a full day. The mounts were a challenge, but one engine perch is nuts where it was, and the other off a 16th. I'll call it better than our earlier work (1993 rebuild). Went smooth with one caveat. We had the torque converter set, but when I got to the point to bolt it up I found the converter must have slipped forward, because it was already flush with the flex plate. It's my understanding that generally you have to pull it forward 1/8" plus to meet the plate. But the converter spun without much effort and bolts went smoothly, so I think we're good. EDIT: Really I don't feel great about that torque converter. Going to disconnect and double check.

These are my boys. The oldest worked with me all day. The truck is his birthright. He doesn't like Ochre. It will grow on him;)

BTW, if anyone can recommend a water pump and starter for an original 402/400TH build it's appreciated. I'd like a cast iron pump. If it means no other mods and suits an original block to transmission, including the inspection cover:metal: then I'd like to upgrade the starter. I think some are smaller and lighter sounds right;)

Not done yet, but on the weekend I will be fitting my "Spot Light".

I got a NOS bracket of Ebay and a 6" light, nice old one with the correct length shaft, Ivory colored handle. It has the original GE lamp.

I think it need a new wire, I pick it up this afternoon.

I am not sure where I will wire it from, Maybe through a relay switched from the ignition.

I used a regular -6 fitting with a nylon insert pushed in the fitting and then installed on pcv and carb. Smoke tested and no leaks. It was a pain and probably 2 hours work grinding on the fitting. Thanks

No Pics to show but I finished putting the doors back together with new glass run channels, window regulators, door relays, and whiskers. I'm amazed at the difference, windows are nice and tight now and roll up and down smoooth. And a shout to Randy500 for his spot on instructions on tear down and reassembly of the components.

Got a lot done today. Repaired back panel. Finished the door which took way too many days to complete. I thought I was finished numerous times later to find it wasn't straight. Pulled the front and rear glass. Getting closer each day.

I've put about 5000miles on it since bolt off resto so with it up in the air and the suspension is under load. I want to retorque all the bolts, clean, change some fluids, and give it a going over. I have to add some static electricity grounding straps. I'm finishing the wiring to the P/L, P/W and interior light door pins. With the truck being low and me old I'll take any easy way. Maybe some exhaust work.
