what year bed wood strips?

What is the difference in the 60-62 and 63-66 strips? I know the frames are wider on earlier trucks so the cross sills would be different but how does that affect the strips? Is the front to back spacing of the cross sills also different on the earlier trucks? The wood planks are the same width so I can't really see what the difference would be. I have a 66 truck with at 60 bed and cross sills and am getting ready to replace the wood.

Here is a link with the information on wood widths by year group: https://gmcpauls.com/47-72_BedWood_Info.htm

I have that. I’m talking about the metal strips that hold the wood down. Classic parts list 2 different ones

I'll measure the spacing of bolt heads in the strips on my '62 and my '65 to see what the difference is. We know the frame widths are not the same, and the earlier X frame makes for some obstacles when securing the bed from underneath, so layout of cross sills may differ because of that. Just give me a day or two.

Did you replace the beds rear cross sill? The 60 is 8” wider than the 63-66 so those mounts will not line up at all.

No, I cut the mounts off and re-welded them. I’ve had the bed mounted to the truck once before so I’ve got all that figured out. Now I’m just trying to get a decent floor in it.

I went to my friends lumber store and bought red oak and paid $200.00 with tax. I have a adjustable Dado and put on my table saw and put all the groves in the boards and about two hours. I didn't want to pay $621.00 plus shipping.

for other readers in the future, I strongly recommend Mar K in OKC. You can even go to the shop and pick up your order. Their bed kit and wood was the only thing in my restoration that went as advertised, fit, and was better than the original. Mar K rocks.

I just compared the bolt heads in the bed strips in my '62 long fleet with those from my '66 long fleet, and they appear the same or very close to the same, with the exception of the third bolt from the front. That bolt is set about 1" further aft on the '66.
