It's traditional to introduce your self here and to state what you intend for your project. Obviously, with your post you intend to change the suspension. Anything else? Engine? Trans? Interior?

By the way, 1955, 56 & 57 are NOT "Apaches". That name only applies to '58 & '59 in the Task Force ('55.2-'59) era half ton trucks. The 3/4 tons are Vikings. The larger trucks are called Spartans.

Welcome to the forum. You started out with a great looking truck, wish mine looked that good. We love pictures so be sure to post lots of them as you go. That PB suspension looks beautiful, almost a shame to cover it up by putting it under the truck, LOL.

Nothing has changed yet it has a rear end out of 90's chevy truck right now. Trying to figure out if I should have this one cut down or just get another one

I believe that mount goes on the other side.

I think your right it does fit better on the other side but it does still hit the frame bolt a little bit. I think I might be good tho if I upgraded to the ridetech shocks

Re: 55 apache porterbuilt

Any one know the widest rim and tire I can fit in the stock fenders on the rear?

No I'm not wanting to

Re: 55 apache porterbuilt

Without tubing it, it think 8in will be the max rim size that will fit under the fender.

I went ahead and ordered 2 15 wheels that are 7 wide with a 4.25 backspace just to check the figment on the rear and because I figured I could use them on the front. But now after looking at the front I don't know if they are going to work

ChuckDriver 06-25-2017 09:48 PM

Re: 55 apache porterbuilt

The width of the rear end will determine what backspacing will work.

Re: 55 apache porterbuilt

Well 15x7 with a 4.25 backspace doesn't work on the front looks like Im gunna need a 6" wheel just gota figure out what backspace I need

Will a 15in wheel work with the brake caliper installed?

I haven't tried that yet but I was told that it would. I also just found out that I need the same size wheel that comes on a 74 c10 to clear every thing on the front. I've found that the stock size is 15x6 but I can't find the stock back space

ChuckDriver 06-28-2017 06:33 PM

Re: 55 apache porterbuilt

It looks like you have the CPP modular spindle. I would put the caliper on the spindle to confirm the 15in will fit over it.
