Finally pulled the trigger on doing an LS swap and wanted to share the build. I hope any or all of this information may help someone else.

Here is a snapshot of the odometer prior to pulling the 5.7L and 4L60E that was in the truck.

Out with the old... she ran just fine, but it was a nickel and dimer.

As you can see, it was time for a cleanup at the very least.

Here is the donor powerplant. It is a 6.2L, L99/6L80E from a 2010 Camaro SS with a little over 14K miles.

Well that should really wake her up! Good luck with the swap.

This was my first experience with any wrenching on an LS. I will never go back! The pictures here are of disassembly to prep for the oil pan kit from BRPhotrods. I labeled all the connectors due to my noobness and snapped pics of all the ground terminals and their placement for the reinstall later down the road.

ls1Nova71, she is really awake. The truck is done, just trying to get caught up on all the build thread...

Here is the oil pan kit from BRPhotrods. Had to buy the Hummer H2 pan with the VVT machining. There was a valve in the old pan that I had to install in the new one. It was shipped with just a plug, not mentioned in the instructions...

Prepped the engine bay. You will notice the coil spring on the floor. I dropped the lower control arms to get access to the engine mount bolts. I used the engine and transmission mount kit form BRPhotrods also along with the mid-length headers they offer.

Needed to delete the external oil cooler, so bought a block plug and installed. Also installed the BRPhotrods motor mounts. I installed the mounts on the block backwards to leave the block farther forward first. Then I could safely re-chain the engine hoist to the front only since I had a crossmember to support the transmission in the back. More work, but I felt safer doing so with the investment money for the swap.

Only one spot on the trans tunnel that needed some relief with the 6L80E. It is right at the lower spot weld seam on the firewall.

Here she is going back together. Just the intake and coil packs for now until more parts come in.

LSbrackets power steering and alternator kit came in. Here it is installed. Later in the thread there will be pictures of the custom power steering hoses.

Since the tailshaft has the flange yoke I had to order an adapter from Gforce Engineering to mate the Spicer flange yoke U-joint adapter. Installed to verify fit.

Old fuel tank came out for a new setup. New tank, new sender, new in-tank fuel pump, new filter/regulator and hose kit from BRPhotrods, etc. The internal pump is Aeromotive and loud-ish, but much more quiet than an external pump. Had to use inverted flare o-ring to AN style adapter fitting on the sender for the new lines.

Running a Speed and Performance coolant temp sensor adapter for the instrument gauge at the moment, but a word to the wise... at idle I calibrated it based on the ECM temp by putting a resistor in series, but while driving enough air passes over it to cause the gauge to read 30 degrees too low. I will keep you posted on the resolution. Already have planned to purchase a 98 Camaro/Firebird LS1 ECT sensor with the 3-wire connector to replace the stock 2010 L99 sensor in the block. (This is the last hurdle to getting the stock gauges all to read correctly)

This is the reason why stock manifolds won't work. The flange rests on the frame very close to where I cut it out once already for the old long tubes from the original Gen III engine.

The BRPhotrods mid-length headers were the first headers I EVER installed that took no special tools AND had no clearance issues. These things were made for this engine in this truck.

Went shopping at the local parts store to find the radiator hoses needed for the job. Here is what I came up with... The upper radiator hose was swapped end to end after installing the air cleaner later in the build.

Removed the intake and installed another adapter from S&P for the oil pressure gauge. Also installed the transmission cooler adapter fitting and the transmission line adapter fittings to run -6 AN hose left over from the fuel line kit. Installed the brake booster sensor too to keep the swap close to stock for the engine.
