Turbo Charged AD?

Anyone ever turbo charged their 47-54 truck? I have been playing with a turbo on a 5.3 LS motor for a Camaro and it got me to thinking about something for my 54. Thanks

ETA, Pictures would be great!

I guess I should clarify, I am looking to turbo charge a V8 in a 47-54 truck. THanks

i am currently doing it on a task force pickup, you will have to build your own hotside though and think about using a air to water inter-cooler (there wasn't enough room behind the the grille on my 56 to fit a conventional air to air without heavy modifications). As you already know LS motors are very turbo friendly!

I wasn't going to post this yet but since you asked. It is obviously not finished yet.

I know this post is old but any updates? I'm doing the same with my 52 using a 5.3 and single 76mm turbo.

Probably not what you were thinking, but I always thought this was really cool. 1951 GMC with a turbocharged inline six-cylinder Atlas motor (Vortec 4200). There are a couple other videos on this guy's YouTube channel, but I haven't seen info on the truck anywhere else.

Just out of curiousity, what are you looking to get? Pictures of the setup or a contact for technical info? Adding a turbo will require a pile of customization and little that you do is likely to match someone else's work (nor should it imo).

A google image search brought up some neat stuff.

Here's a 51 that has a turbo on a Vortec 4200. Marc is his name. He's a drag racer, always trying to improve on it. http://www.vortec4200.com/forum1/vie...php?f=10&t=843

He runs EMtech motorsports. [url]http://www.emtechmotorsports.com/index.html[/url

I'm planning on building one, it will be a rear mount kit though since there is not enough room under the hood.

I'm currently assembling parts to do a 5.3ls/4l80 setup in my 52. It is also getting bagged and the motor will be turbo'd next winter with a s476 borg warner turbo. I will have a build thread for it.

I have driven this 53 i built all summer for a total of 9,000 miles and no issues. rear wheel dyno 523 hp on 9 psi and 93 octane. I also pull my 13' 1967 scotty camper anywhere i please. loads of power and fun. Oh yes its only a little 4.8 . Spring of 2017 it will be going to e85 and 17 psi.....its a terrible addiction with no cure BEWARE.....

Wow! Cool to see the turbo in the hood. Makes me hopeful I can do it. How's the intercooler fit?

Oh tons of fun, its a air to air Treadstone runs between the front frame rails and i wont lie it was a challenge but with some serious measuring and fabricating it has worked out well. Intercooler is good to 800 hp.

I have a 6 liter being built now for twins on my 49.... But not there yet.. They will be rear mounted under the bed behind the cab. Easy place to put them... Will be a pump gas water/meth intercooled setup.

Re: Turbo Charged AD?

I will just say everyone has there own opinion but this thing is a challenge to drive from a 45-50 mph roll with one good turbo and has no lag to speak of with the 4l80e and revmax 3800 stall billit converter. i cant really see 2 necessary , just going to make 2 times as much heat and probably not real drivable, but everyone to his own, i am not looking for any enemies, lol.
