Made a deal on the truck. Grabbed all the loose parts including the pass door that had been media blasted and primered...why?!?! and loaded the truck up on the trailer and brought it home. Found this truck about 3 miles from my house.

First order was to get truck running. I was able to check fluids, wiring, and gave it some gas down the carb and it Fired!! The truck came with some new parts. I removed the old gas tank and installed a new 1 included with truck. I also replaced all the fuel hose and fuel pump.

Next I went thru the brakes. The previous owners brother stated to do a disc brake conversion but never finished it. I installed all new rubber hoses, cleaned all the hard lines. Repacked all the wheel bearings, added ne brake shoes and pads also replaced the master cylinder. Bled the brakes and we were in business. Drove the truck around the block!

Time to make it look more presentable. Installed chrome bumpers, tail lights, headlight doors, and front turn signals. I always paint behind the grill semi gloss black.

I also replaced all the tires, painted the wheels Sundance silver metallic. Then I added some new 1956 chevy car hubcaps.

This is my first truck of this era. 1 thing I learned is that a 1957 is a 1 year only grill. I had a used 1955-1956 chrome grill and it would not fit the hole!! So I took the 57 grill banged some of the big dents out and painted it Sundance silver too.

That was a very nice find and you have done really nice work on it! Are you going to try to patina match the RH door and roll with it? That truck looks so dry and solid it isn't even fair!

Thanks for the compliments!
One thing about this 57 truck is I Hated was the 3 spoke steering wheel...to much dish and no style. I like the flat style earlier steering wheel. To me it looks like a bottom view of an old airplane. So I swapped it and added a new horn button.

The truck had no exhaust either when I got it. I made a simple exhaust for it. I had the muffler shop flair the exhaust pipe for the gasket.

These bed side rails came with truck. I thought they were COOL and added to the Farm Factor. However they fit like crap and were unstable. I added some mounting points, braced the top spreader bar, painted them (brush painted silver hammer tone has a galvanized look to it). I also added some furniture pads to bottom of mounting brackets to protect the trucks paint. I did not want to drill any holes int truck or make it difficult to remove bed side railings.
