Torq Thrust Rims

Hello!

I have a '72 short bed that I am working on and one of the next items on the list are the wheels. I think I have decided on a set of the AR torq thrust but can't settle on a size. Currently the truck sits on 15x8 stock rims and how big can I go without making it look gaudy? 16? 17? I think 18 would be too big. Also, how to I determine the spacing for the rear?

Any help is appreciated!
Thanks
Paul

16s or 17s do look real nice IMO and dont look to big.

I would go with 17's, if your going to deviate from a 15" wheel, might as well kick it up a notch. With the correct tire size, up to 20" TT rims look good, but I like how the 17's look the best. With larger rims, the tire "style" and size are almost as important as the rims, so keep that in mind as well when tire shopping.

Are you lowering or keeping stock height?

Here's my 68 stepper with 17x8(4"bs) 255/50/17 tires front, 17x9.5(5.5"bs& 7/16" spacers) 275/55/17 tires rear with a 4.5/5.75" drop.

here's mine with 15" tt2's. the fronts are 7 with a 235/60 and rears are 10 with 295/50's. my backspacing is not right for the rear but i bought the wheels used cheap. you need to get lolife99's opinion on the backspacing and tire sizes he seems to be the man for that kind of question.

Thanks for the replies!

The truck has been lowered by the previous owner but I couldn't tell you by how much - he cut the coil springs in the front and kept stock spindles. So I plan on going back to stock spring with 2.5" drop spindles in front and keeping it level in the back (no rake)... so not sure how low that will end up being.

17 inch rims sound like the way to go... Nice and clean! Thanks again

Here are 14x6 up front, 15x10 out back.
Lowered 1" up front, 3" out back.

Wheels will depend on the look you are going for.
I personally like 20's,... but the width and backspacing still applies (for the most part).
Your '72 will have the wider rearend housing.
Member hot trux just installed 20x8.5 (5.25" BS) Boss 338 wheels on his '68 (with a 71-72 rearend).
These wheels fit perfect inside those tiny stepside rear fenders.
But if it was a fleetside truck,... a 20x10 (5.5" BS) wheel would be better for that bed style.
