Do it, its not like if you ever wanted to you couldn't put it back to factory height.

well I have not done a lowering kit ,, years ago I did the heated springs and such NOT doing that anymore , I saw all kinds of kits some with spindles and such but it looks like the cpp kit will do what I was after ,,,

Yeah,we've been lowering these trucks for years before anything was "made" to do it. There wasn't any wrong to it,but now that they make stuff you can really do it right.

I asked SSTim about lowering my 71 GMC 1500 but he suggested I research what others are doing about lowering. Can someone please explain how to drop a 1/2 ton with leafs that needs to be drivable afterwards? If you use drop spindles do you need shorter springs also ? Also can you remove the extra leafs if you have optional heavy duty leafs to get a little lower in rear ?.....:gmc2:

Lots of good info out there.

But, for my $.02, I'd call the guys at Early Classic Enterprises, Clovis, CA.

Drop spindles give you a 2.5" drop. If you want more springs can be changed with drops by the inch. You can skip the spindles and just buy springs for up to 3" front drop.
For leaf springs you can remove the extra springs and that will drop you the thickness of the springs plus maybe and inch, due to lighter spring rate. You can remove more from the standard spring pack but you're asking for spring wrap. Options for lowering are axle-flip...moving the axle over the springs. There are kits for this. Another route is longer shackles, but you can only go so low before they hit the bed floor. There are also spring mounts made that position the springs higher up. Not sure if they are made for 67-72s but '73+ stuff can be used. Different combinations of all the above can be done, too. If you do an axle-flip it puts the axle near the frame. But,that's a good bit of drop and your HD springs would give more room and resist bottoming more..

Re: been rolling around the idea of lowering my 67 ?

these trucks want to ROLL in a curve so the kit I ordered has front and rear sway bar , is CPP ok parts ? I did not want my truck slammed to the ground I just want it lowered and to drive and handle well , I am very well capable mechanically to do this with no problem I will realign my front end myself when done but if the parts have a problem I cant wrench fix that ?

Re: been rolling around the idea of lowering my 67 ?

CPP has good stuff. I've got their deluxe drop kit on mine right now and I love it. I have a 3.5"/5" drop on mine right now. 2.5" drop spindles, 1" springs up front, 3" springs and 2" blocks out back with shock relocators. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Re: been rolling around the idea of lowering my 67 ?

No complaints with my CPP 2/5 all spring drop with their shocks. My C10 does not have the adjustable panhard bar but the angle on the bar is similar to stock, just reversed, ie the bar from the frame rail mount goes up at a angle to the rear end mount.
I live in the mountains of Colorado [9000 ft. elevation] and when pushed Hard the truck corners like a go kart! It is fun, and my truck is now just a toy. It's heavy hauling days are behind it with only 1.25" to the jounce bumper. Have a blast lowering yours and keep your stock wheels and caps I love the look.

Re: been rolling around the idea of lowering my 67 ?

yep stock wheels and caps are staying PLUS my truck needs painted BUT since things are the way they are now with the patina thing it DONT need painted LOL
