Economic Impact Payment Card
Please refrain from politicizing this! This is a simple question.
We got visa cards in the mail that are preloaded with 600 bucks, at least that's what the material accompanying the card says. But this looks like another credit card scam to me. Its all very commercial looking, very non government looking. My wife did a little online search and she says she thinks its legit. But last time we got these payments they were in the form of the usual government checks. Does anyone here have experience with these and know for certain if these are legit? |
Re: Economic Impact Payment Card
We got them too! I took them to my Bank and the Clerk transferred the credit to my Checking. Worked for me

Re: Economic Impact Payment Card
Ok thanks, much appreciated.

Re: Economic Impact Payment Card
Mine was a direct deposit
|
Re: Economic Impact Payment Card
I had heard that some of the payments were taking the form of cards, but it's strange that your first one was direct deposit and this one was a card. Maybe the IRS lost your banking info.

Re: Economic Impact Payment Card
My first was a check. My guess if you are set up with the IRS any stimulus checks would be direct deposit. My tax refunds come via check.

Re: Economic Impact Payment Card
Spend wisely and keep that and more in the bank for the inflated tax & expenses to come;)

Re: Economic Impact Payment Card
.
Careful. Your Bank doesn't care if it will hurt you financially as long as it benefits them financially so their getting funds in your account is no indication of this being "legit" or not. I'm going to guess it's absolutely a scam or a way for some other company/entity to gain on a loan to you with your actual free money as the collateral. BTW...my 2049 from uncle Sam this time around arrived direct deposit. -klb |
Re: Economic Impact Payment Card
I would be very careful with that card. We just today got our check in the mail today.
Was there any information included with the card? I would contact your local representative to see if they are legit. Being the paranoid guy that I am we have separate credit card and checking account at a different bank than our normal bank. We use that account for all our internet purchases. |
Re: Economic Impact Payment Card
It's probably legit. That is one of the ways they send them. If you got yours in the first round, the first time, it's probably right. I don't think that they were set up to do the cards initially. That came in for the people who didn't get theirs right away the first time.
Mine was direct deposited both times. |
Re: Economic Impact Payment Card
Sounds legit based on this link. Maybe talk to your bank.

Re: Economic Impact Payment Card
We file our taxes electronically using TurbTax, so all the heavy lifting is done by them (and my wife, as I insisted that she pay the bills and do the taxes, back when I was out of town for months at a time). So, we got those checks on electronic deposit. The first one got donated, since we didn't need it. Dunno what's going to happen to the new one.

Re: Economic Impact Payment Card
Arnt these virus economic impact payments just a loan against your 2020 tax return.
I don't know. |
Re: Economic Impact Payment Card
I never got the first one and don't expect to get this one. I am listed as a dependent on someone else's tax return. It went to them.
I called the IRS (2 hours on hold) to see what return I am listed on. They said that they have no information. They're the IRS, how can they have no info? Then I thought about it. Who has all my information? Quick answer: My ex wife. And this is just the type of thing that she would do. She's done things like this to me before. She's bitter that I moved on. It's been 12 years since we split and I can't get rid of her. I can't prove it but I know it was her. |

If it was a one-time thing, we should have been given the option to not take it and take some of the burden off of the system. Plus, they couldn't know when this will actually be "over" enough to expect to get it back so quickly |

What you should do is consider for a moment that your Ex, if indeed she is collecting these funds, has committed a federal crime. This could land her in some very serious trouble...even place her in the custody of federal agents and require her to use those funds to hire attorneys and post bail. This jacking around with your status as an independent, adult tax paying citizen of the US is not something you should take lightly especially today with all this stuff going on. This woman is messing with your status as a citizen. SHE IS TAKING SOME OF YOUR RIGHTS AWAY FROM YOU. TAKE THEM BACK. -klb |

At the very least, maybe you could spend 150 bucks of your money to have a local attorney send her a letter stating simply the penalties for falsely claiming an adult male ( you ) as a dependent and then illegally collecting benefits as a result. Just that realization on her part may be enough to put an end to it. Sounds like she is pretty ignorant of consequences. Maybe a bit of education is all she needs. -klb |
Re: Economic Impact Payment Card
Haven't seen it yet, but thinking about spending ours on a bull-bar for the 2500HD ...?
By mid-summer, $600 will probably just about buy a tank of gas, if we live that long. |

I just remind myself that I got some wonderful children out of the deal. And everytime I see or hear from them it's worth it. When I see my grandkids it's worth it. And in the end that's all that really matters. When she steals from me, After all these years. I think that she's just a pathetic miserable person that has nothing else. |
