Looking really good, like the idea of cleaning up the jams.

The final work of the weekend and pretty much where **** stated going south. The corner filler panel came out ok and I was happy with it. The filler strip for the cable tray is where a dumb idea didn't pay off. I decided I could muscle the strip around the bend and tac it as I went. WRONG! It'll take a bit of filler to smooth out the wrinkles I made. The other side will get a filler strip cut into the appropriate arc so that if funnels around the corner nicely... Huh, wish me luck.

It's amazing how easy it is to wrap metal around a corner in a cone shape when you start with the right shape. I'd like to thank Chicago Metal Rolled Products (http://www.cmrp.com/cone-calculator) for having an online handy-dandy cone template calculator. Now for a little more welding and allot more grinding, it'll be time for some filler to smooth things out.

Oh! And yes there was a casualty again this week. My pretty ceramic coated Tri-Y headers got trashed from grinder slag. Meh, I was thinking of wrapping them anyways.

This morning I finished up the welding and grinding on the firewall. The rest is up to the mud man.

While waiting on the mud man to show back up I managed to get the interior 180'd and started some of the tape work so we can prime this weekend.

I've got a bigger update that I hope to have time to post tomorrow after work but I just had to take a minute to post some of the fine work done for me by Chad at RenderedRides.

Seems we suffer some sort of casualty every week here at the shop. This week, one of the crew simply had to go. First he was rumored to be scurrying around the shop at night when nobody else was there. Then he was getting into other cars in the shop... OK, he was eating other cars in the shop. So although a great loss, homey had to go.

I also managed to get started on flushing the fuel filler door. Man! I wish I would have known how bad this bed floor was before we got this far along. The first fit looked pretty good. Then after grinding away all the filler, I realized how bad off it was. The second fit shows 1/4" gaps that were flush before grinding. I'm going to just clean it up and make the best of it as I hope to pull it out for a wooden conversion later.

The deeper I got into this bed floor the more I realized that I wish I weren't so deep into it. There's filler galore and it's ratty from end to end so I'm going to cover it with bed liner instead of paint. I'm thinking of changing it out for wood later.

When I started wet sanding the second coat of high-build 2K on the fenders, I noticed that the side rails were awful so out comes the body filler again. The bumps, dings, and weld divots all filled out nicely and I'm happy with them.

For the last 2 weeks I've been wet sanding, wet sanding, and wet sanding some more. The guy at the paint store jokingly asked if I was sanding a bus with all that 600 paper. Simply put, "It feels like it!" The good news is that the back of the cab is all I have left which shouldn't take more than a couple of hours tomorrow and then she's ready for some color. We're going to shoot all the jams and then bolt it back together for alignment and exterior paint.

Finally got the wet sanding done and the minor imperfections glazed over so she was ready for paint by Friday. The painter was coming by Saturday so as usual, I couldn't leave well enough alone and hurried up to yank the motor and gut the driver's side of the firewall. I justified it in my mind because I need a shift kit in the tranny, want to wrap the headers, and kinda wanted to paint the motor anyway so there... It had to be pulled. :metal: Convinced? lol... At least now I'll sleep at night knowing there's paint everywhere I want it on that firewall and nothing was taped around after all the work I put into it.

It's funny how much mopping it takes to clean up a wet sanding mess to get ready for shooting paint. SMH... I don't even mop at home. The things we do for trucks...
