57 Chevy truck ignition

Trying to understand the ignition switch on my 57 Chevy truck. It seems to only have one position which I would guess is an "ON" position. Does that mean I need to add a "Start" button to the truck? Has anyone updated theirs with an integrated start switch and if so what did you use? Obviously I don't have much experience with electrical stuff and just trying to better understand how to move forward. Thanks!

Many of the older trucks had a floor mounted start button right next to the gas pedal. You can either replace it with a new update style start/ign switch or put in a dash mounted push button and wire it 12V to one side and the the starter solenoid to the other side of the switch. I would run a relay in the circuit too.
