Replacing shocks in 01 Sierra

I bought some new shocks for the 01 sierra and have a question. I see that there is a rubber grommet at the top is there one on the back side of that top piece as well? I looked up there and cant see one and the shocks came with 2 grommets for each front shock.

Thanks

I did mine a couple years ago, new Bilsteins, well worth the $, anyway, I'm assuming you're referring to the front shocks, and yes, it's two pieces. One goes "under" the mount and the other goes "on top" of the mount to create a sandwich.

I found this pic on the 'net. The mount goes in the middle of the rubber sandwich. So you put on one grommet, stick the shock up in place, put the other grommet on top, then put the bolt on :D

I hope that's what you needed. The back shocks are super easy. My truck even came from "the north" and my bolts all came off easy. The front shocks are a pain in the ass. I had trouble getting that stupid top bolt off. I had to clamp the shock with a pair of vice grips from underneath and use a wrench to get the bolt off... this is one application where I wish I had had the ratcheting wrenches!

Re: Replacing shocks in 01 Sierra

Thanks for the info. Yep new Bilsteins and of course I hit a snag :) I sheared a bolt in half. I wasn't even turning that hard with the 3/8s. Broke it in half. So I had to take the shock back out and get out the vise grips.

After a hour and a lot of convincing( cussing ) I got it out. So now I need a new bolt for bottom drivers side front shock. The good news is that I got the pass side on with no issues. Anyone know how I can find out what the part number is?

Thanks

Almost forgot. I ran into issues with the passenger side shock moving on me as well. Strap wrench worked perfect.
