It actually dead hooks, gets alittle squirmy on the 1-2 though (usually blows the tires away for a sec).

To be honest, with my luck on blowing 8.5" 10 Bolts to pieces, I am a bit cautious to start power braking just for the fun of it.

I just upgraded my ten bolt with 3:73 gears and 30spline axles from a 90's truck and a true track diff and a t/a stud girdle/cover. With some moser axles and strange c clip eliminators the 8.5 and car 12bolt are close in comparison

Although I agree with those upgrades a 8.5" can be built very stout, I don't have that much faith in my stock '87 28 spline unit and I am tapped on 'toy' funds for the time being.

I know its to the wheels, I meant personally I'd be happy with numbers like that at the crank. That's actually the power level I'm shooting for with my 383. I hear you on skipping unnecessary driveline abuse. I'm hoping I didn't "over tire" mine. Anyway, if you ever make a rolling vid I'd like to see it.

I misunderstood your meaning, sorry about that.

I'll see about getting some video shot from another car while driving.

I get about 14 in town and 18 on the highway, but I tend to drive pretty aggressively.

Well when you do get the driveshaft dynamically balanced and some 1350 u joints and the ten bolt built and your good for 600 to the wheels

Sold years ago....

It was built from a kit from Competition Engineering.

not sure if you did this already or not, but with my short bed k10 and 4l60 i was able to use the drive shaft out of a 2000 camaro/trans am, pretty much the same length u joints, but weighs a lot less....not sure if it'll work with the 4l80 or not but just a thought

The conversion has been finished and driving for over 2 years. The 4L60e and the TH350 share the same transmission slip yoke, but the 4L80e uses the same as a TH400.

I also ditched the 8.5" 10 bolt for a 9.5" 14 bolt, custom 5x5 axles, Detroit Locker, 4.11 gears, etc.

One of my favs on here, will be using the pics when I get around to my full convert conversion. Now you just need a 73-80 front end and youll be done lol

No no. If I do any changes to the front end, it would be a '89-'91 headlight/grille/core support swap.

I like the square look vs the rounded off look. To each their own.

Considering attempting this same conversion (4wd to 2wd) and wondered if you may have a cheat sheet on the major components needed to complete the swap? Especially now that you've done yours from what you've learned...
I also worry about having to drill holes to mount stuff up front as I hate to drive down the road sideways....
