Re: A Scottish 55 Big back window

So......the story started a few weeks back.....i shall bring you all up to speed now over the coming posts...now ive finished my shift at the distillery....

Bruce is my mate doing the work.......and below are the pics he sent me with his words...........and description...........

now Bruce DONT hang around

his words n pics pinched from elsewhere

Good day striping, the rear is also ready to lift off.

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-w...124_184937.jpg

Sorry Mario, I appear to have made more room for turbos :D

Front end was amazing 2 bolts have sheared on the entire front - I've striped 2007 cars that have been worse!!
Rear is a slightly different story, all of the bed to body ones were loose, so it was quicker for me to cut those ones (8) they are only a long nut and bolt.
Not a fan of the clutch head bolts most of the external ones are too tight to undo (screwdriver tool) so need cutting off, and a couple of the ones inside the doors need drilling out too. Why they used them I'll never now!, but then also most of those issues are probably because it has been round a while ;)
But all in all, amazed in the old girls shape

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-R...128_154101.jpg

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-p...128_154134.jpg

Hole load of grinding bolts off!

So that it, all major strip done, Just got to separate the inner wings from the front wings, and I've some bolts to drill out on the passenger door so that can get stripped (damn you clutch head!!!!!!!!!)

The blaster likes it :)...... as does everyone else that sees it :D

Re: A Scottish 55 Big back window

Now, at this point i decided to bite the bullet........

Bruce was just gonna do the panels and leave me the chassis to do...

however i changed my mind and agreed with Bruce for him to go.....whole hog and strip her right down to the bare bones...

so EVERYTHING is being blasted and coated in an epoxy for protection...

More pics to come........

oh and have i mentioned BULLET holes yet?;)

whiskymaker 02-24-2014 06:38 PM

so,this is the past few weeks of work done by Bruce....and as of now we are up to date here....

Later this week the rolling chassis and cab are going to the blaster...so i expect things will be a little slow til i get pics and info.....

in the mean time i intend on learning more about these great trucks and learning the correct wording for different parts......us Brits have a different way of speaking when it comes to parts...so i gotta learn :)

Feel free to pipe up with any questions tips or tricks.......i am always eager to learn.....

keep smilin.

Mario :)

If you have a ? just ask. I don't think any one on this site will care how or what you call a part. Sometimes our slang is confusing as we don't always use the correct language. I know that we are all one big Happy Family here and welcome Truckaholics from around the world.

Nice ride, got a good foundation it looks like.
Not so sure about the bullet holes..... I'm thinking they were from pulling dents, but you never know.

Welcome to the forum. Looks like you started out with a great looking truck and the new wheels and tires really set it off.

Many thanks for the welcome...we are over the moon with the truck and are really looking forward to using the ol girl......

The wheels and tyres really do suit the ol girl....i did look into clipping and air bagging etc...but being in the UK i would get royally screwed by the vat man and customs man......so this ol lady is staying as she is ride height wise.

i am already looking for another truck, maybe a little older, for me to really play with and have fun......but all in good time.....:)

Nice project truck. Those definitely are not bullet holes. They are dent pulling holes.

Re: A Scottish 55 Big back window

The ol girl is now at the blasters, after having the chassis power cleaned ready for him....

so next week should see the cab and chassis blasted.

My Paint man,Bruce, will then be coating the chassis in epoxy and then a gloss black....

Cab will be coated in epoxy and then underneath the cab will get an epoxy coat, gloss black coat and then under-sealed with schutz underseal...

The roads up here in the North East o Scotland are crap.....and due to the incredibly wonderful UK weather we have,it is either raining or snowing,so we have a lot of salt on the roads.........hence the extra under seal going on...

Hopefully next week will see me adding some more pics and us getting to the priming/painting stage......

:)
