Cowl hood question

My current hood needs a bit of attention including striping paint and doing some dent repair before a repaint. I'm considering replacing with a cowl hood since it will be close to the same money.

I'm looking for something subtle like a 2". Wondering how the fitment is and if you were happy with the outcome. I'm guessing I loose the cheese grader slots close to the windshield (I like that detail on the current hood).

Possibly something like this

This would be going on a step side.

Going to give your question a bit of a bump here, because although over 200 folks have read your message none have replied.

One big reason may be although it is fascinating to know that the new hood will be installed on a stepside, the information most folks need to know is what year the truck referred to is. There is considerable difference between the 73-80 and 81 and later hoods.

Hey silver I appreciate the bump thanks brother.

Yeah I wasn’t sure if my post lacked direction in the question. The truck is a 78 and I’m debating about trying to do the body work and painting of the hood myself.

I was wondering if people have installed the cowl hoods and if they were pleased with the decision compared to the stock hood.
