TH400 to SM465

hello. i recently purchased a 1987 gmc 2500. it has the turbo 400 trans and np208 transfer case. i am hoping to do a manual swap on it to a sm465 trans. what all would i need to do this? thanks

Besides the trans/transfer case, you'll need to decide if you want a mech or juice clutch...the pedal kits are different. You'll also need a flywheel, clutch, pedal box, floor hump (or cut yours), linkage or hydro components. You'll also likely need some driveshaft work done. Probably some stuff I've forgotten too.

so not necessarily 'hard' , just finding all the parts to do it

Correct. It's easiest to have a donor truck. I would look for a transmission mated to an np205 with a fixed rear yoke. The slip yoke versions are also acceptable if you want less driveline hassle.

You will need a bell housing to go with the SM465. It has a larger center hole then the 3 speeds or earlier models.
