would sound more exciting if it was a 4x4 crewcab but this baby is gonna haul the family for the next few years... 1993 Passport by Cobra, 37,000mi one owner for $4800... Does have some roof rot in the upper passenger nose cone but that will be a winter project... New brakes, great tires, CC, AC (needs recharged), 4,000 watt Onan generator with 13 hours on the meter, stove and microwave never used, fridge and frezer (AC or LP), shower, toilet, full bed in back and over sleeper, couch and dining area turn into beds, swivel chair behind pass seat, awning and other parts included. Couldn't turn it down... Thanks Big Al for the carfax...

craigslist is evil... Looks like a nice setup. The family will love it, our kids beg us to go camping in the travel trailer all the time.

Thanks Tim, it might come in handy at a local car show... say.. Carlisle???

Looks like i'm in for a total roof replacement though. After more inspection up top its got some soft spot and the original rubber is dry rotted... Had I known it was that bad I would have asked for another $500 off, since the roof alone is about $700 in product and tons of hours in labor. I think that I can tackle it myself. Now I just have to find some overhead cover to house this beast...

your motorhome and my boat. two completely different creatures but both have the same curse. has the "new purchase grin" wore off yet? mine turned to a frown on day 5.

gron wore off a little on day 1 when I realized that my 250 lbs butt better not stand on the soggy roof!

buddy is recharging the r12 AC system while I'm gone this week. also found a good plan for overhead cover( which my township requires) a 12x30 tall tarped carport. will keep the snow off And allow me to do the repAir at home

the canopy is made from 1 5/8 pole used for chain link fencing and a large tarp. so far I've only found kits online. I'm on the road using my iPhone so searching is a pain

good news, found some good RV forums with build pics for the roof. Also made it to an RV surplus near my dads in Indiana. picked up a new rubber roof, trim, glue, 4 new vents, putty tape, and some other little parts for $425. That's about 1/2 price for other places that I found.

Re: Bought a F@RD!, big block EFI 460 1-ton... "PROJECT COUSIN EDDIE"

well, measure twice cut once!!!!

while on vacation I had my buddy take a quick measurement of my roof so that I could buy some rubber roofing material for 1/2 price at a surplus store. Well, he must have misunderstood what I needed and the roofing is 1.5 feet SHORT!!! That's $150 wasted, unless someone needs some roofing on Craigslist... Looks like i'll now have to get more from the same company and pay shipping this time. I could make a seam but I would be PO'd if it leaked after a major reroofing project...

hopefully some good news will come out of this.. Craigslist rocks BTW, I put the roof on CL and have someone coming to buy it today. If it works out i'll make $50 on the deal!

That will pay for the shipping for the new roof unless I decide to wait till fall when my dad is visiting, he can just bring it then.

Finally figured out the awning, it was easier than I suspected which is what made it difficult, if that makes since.

well, talk about falling into crap and smelling like roses. I sold the $150 (i spent) rubber roof for $200 today! That will cover the cost of shipping out my 30' rubber roof now!

Pulled the swivel chair out today, bought a new mattress, cleaned cushions, filled the LP tank, repaired a LOT of holes in the existing roof as well. I need to keep bandaids on it till I get time to rip the entire roof off and start over...

ok, since nobody is watching a motorhome build I won't put much effort in...

After realizing that my intermittent wipers didn't work and the windshield washer was broken as well, I decided to take some engine pieces apart. The washer bottle was buried under the spare battery but after testing the motor I found that it worked. Out comes the multimeter to check and for some reason it's not getting power. A little searching on the web led me to the MFS (multi function switch) as Ford calls it. The turn signal assembly with all the controls on it.

So I pulled the steering column collar apart and was lucky to find that autozone has it for $59 in stock! Rock auto was $84 and who knows what ford wants for one. I'll pick it up tomorrow and see if we have washer fluid (which is an inspection requirement in PA)

I'm shooting for a Canada trip next week so no time to waste with shipping either.

New mattress is installed and I just ordered a 19" LCD w/ DVD and wireless headphones for the kids!!!

Also ordered an Onan generator tune up kit.. man this hobby is $$$$$;)

I hear ya... or a vette!

Well, it wasn't the MFS acting up and not charging the washer fluid, the new one worked just the same... go figure. So I ran a hot wire to a starter push button switch and mounted it on the dash near the lights. Hopefully that solves it.

Only cost me $245 to transfer the title and get plates today!!!!!!!!!!! PA loves to tax the crap out of you that's for sure. There isn't a DMV of any sort in the towns that handle plates and titles. They allow civilian business to run that industry unless you want to drive to Harrisburg and save $40+. I didn't have the time so the "fees" were $60!!! I need to be a notary I guess... PURE BS>>

hey and the kiddos can harass each other in the back.. instead of kicking your seat on road trips..
just a friendly reminder.. those tv's dont stay put as well as the old ones do..
soo utilize the mounting holes int he back to make a secure bracket for it..
you can do it yourself for a few dollars instead of spending around 100 for a wall mount

Re: Bought a F@RD!, big block EFI 460 1-ton... "PROJECT COUSIN EDDIE"

well, I bought a $30 wall mount and it barely works.. also got the wireless headphones rigged.. SWEET!

Installed a new firestone airbag tonight, other one tomorrow... they don't do much but the suspension on these bad boys is nearly maxed out as it is. The old bags wouldn't hold air so $290 for a new kit was necessary.

Wifey has been cleaning for days, I chipped in and did the outside, roof patch, and bathroom... We were heading to upstate NY tomorrow but I need to mow the lawn, install an air bag and finish two chapters of Accounting homework!

It's coming along nicely but I wish the water heater and furnace would cooperate, the fridge works so that's a plus...

Re: Bought a F@RD!, big block EFI 460 1-ton... "PROJECT COUSIN EDDIE"

Got my second airbag installed... changed oil, air filter and welded a rear brace that had come loose on the hitch. Wife did a heck of a job on the interior. Most of it looks new again, some plywood needs changed due to roof leakage.

Ordered my second rubber roof today and a 27x10 carport from kingcanopy.com. They had it on clearance for $140 (tarp, sides, ends and poles)!! Only cost $109 to ship. I plan on extending the poles 4-5 feet so that the RV will fit under... Hopefully it doesn't look ghetto in my back yard.

Pics to come for anyone that's watching.. heading to upstate NY tomorrow followed by Canada on Thursday!!!

Oh yeah, I decided to tackle the fuel filter on the Onan generator... damn thing leaks now! I think if I tighten it any more it will break,,, any ideas? it's threaded on top and flared with nut on the bottom....

om watching.. this is in fact interesting..
hey for your wall mount... remember.. wall mounts wernt even thought of when these rv's were produced.. you might have to pull off that wall an make a "box frame" for the tv to set mounted to...

just my two cents..

well, I ordered my 10x27 carport from kingcanopy.com $250 shipped for a tarp like garage. Ordered another rubber roof from Indiana, 30' this time!

Cousin Eddie made his maiden voyage (form my family atleast) to Bob's Lake in Ontario Canada. 750 mile round trip with no issues.. except 8.5 MPG but that was my guess anyway!
