I wanted to share a few pictures. I've taken on the task of fixing all the rust in my '87. Here's a couple picture of some black base to check the body work

Looks nice and straight! I just picked up an '86 that I am going to bring back to life, looking forward to all of your progress!

I'm posting some older pictures. My dad installed new rockers/cab corners. We painted inside the cowl with POR-15 and seam sealed it. We fixed some rust holes on the outer cowl panel. And installed new shocks on the new painted frame!

Some old base sprayed on the fenders to see how they look. And painted interior!

Thanks jricharc. It's been hard to find to work on it let alone post pictures on here. It's amazing how well kept the truck has been since '97 and how much rust it accumulated.

The base wrinkled on the doors, so we get to strip them and start over.

Bummer about the wrinkle but the rest looks good. Any ideas what caused it?

It wrinkled when a second coat of base was being sprayed to smooth it up a tad. Really not sure why. The cab was being painted the same way and time and it didn't. We will definitely cross our fingers from now on.

Weird. Were the flash times different on the doors than the cab?

Looks great! Maybe you had some moisture in the compressor? do you have a line dryer on the system? Keep 'em coming!

Evan & omegadog

The coat that wrinkled on the doors was also put on the cab Dad was painting everything at once. I would think the flash time would be consistent. It's possible there was some moisture. We've been painting back there my whole life. We have a good dryer on the paint line. But it's always possible.

We have the red sanded off and we are going to try to straighten the top section of the doors before we repaint them.

Looks like quite a project there! I just picked up an 87 gmc sierra last week, in running condition for cheap. someone had numerous fuses placed in the wrong receptacles. Easy fix. :mm:
