63 gmc windshield gasket

I had a windshield installed and the top corners are not sealing right. I bought the gasket from brothers, I dont remember who made it. Is anyone else having this issue?

If it becomes an issue that is untenable and need to replace it, I would recommend going with a Precision Replacement seal. Mine fit perfectly and installed with ease.

I was going to recommend the same brand. I got steel rubber products and they are way to stiff

Did you paint your gasket?

Why, do you? I only used foaming dish soap to ease the install of my windshield and seal.

Yep, been there done that, had the glass guy come back and remove the inferior gasket and install a Precision.

No:lol:
In your photo it looks like the gasket is painted the same color as the truck below the trim. My gasket seems like it is bulkier than yours either that or your window trim is wider.

It looks like there is white paint on it.

forest b i believe thats the paint break line you see..he has the wide trim from 60-61 custom cab which covers a good bit of the rubber.

Is that the same glass you took out to begin with?

From the pictures either the glass might be small, or the glass is not fully seated into the pinchweld. When the seal is fully seated the outer fin will sit out on the body. If your seal is not sitting flush against the cab on the inside in the same spots where the issues are on the outside of the cab the seal is not installed correctly.

I need to replace my windshield in the 63, and I am not sure if I want to tackle it on my own. If I crack the windshield, I would be soooo pissed.

I'm in Southern California, so I am hoping I can find someone I trust to do this. I would only go with someone that will insure me it will not crack.

I could try to get the info for the guy that installed mine. But he is in north Hollywood so I am not sure if he will go all the way down to Orange County

Yeah, that’s a long drive.

Man if I lived around Batavia and Collins area I'd be fat for getting stuff done on my Truck. I drove through there when I visited the Truck Shop and was impressed with the custom car shops in that area. You guys have everything.

If you are referring to Asshat's post, he is in Orange County CA not NY. Then yes driving for North Hollywood CA to Orange County NY would be a vary long drive for a glass man;)

I would appreciate the info anyways, might be worth talking to him.

Yes, there are quite a few shops around there. I got my seat re-upholstered in Santa Ana for $450. However, I prefer to do most of the repairs myself, I’m not rich. Some of those shops charge a ton of money for simple repairs.

I will see if I can get that for you. The guy that put my truck together is the one who has his contact info. So I will have to get it from him.

I guess I was the one that was wrong.
