Dana 44 Closed Knuckle to 10 bolt GM Corporate swap question
I'm swapping my 1968 K20 Dana 44 Closed Knuckle front axle assembly out for a 1974 K20 10 Bolt GM Corporate front axle assembly. Just looking at the Pinion Yoke and it looks like the two are different. The U bolts that hold the U-Joint in look like they will need to be longer (I haven't tried yet, just and observation). Do I just buy a new U-Joint with the U-Bolts for the '74 to solve the problem?

1974 will still be a dana 44 unless you meant an 84. Either way, 10 bolt yokes used a strap kit instead of u-bolts

Is it a 10-bolt front end you are swapping in? Both the 10-bolt and Dana44 would bolt up the same. I think I recall the earlier Dana driveshafts (pre-double cardon) having different type yokes. Does yours have the u-bolts with nuts over the caps, as opposed to straps with bolts?

I believe you can swap the yokes, but never did cross that bridge.
