I have a stalled project that I started 12 years ago and never completed, and recently decided it was time to finish it up. Right about that time I received a message from an old friend asking if I wanted to buy his truck. So I called him up and we struck a deal. Only thing is his truck was recently wrecked and then in a shed fire. Pics from a few months ago then what I purchased. I think between the two I should be able to build a decent truck.

Started tearing into the blue truck today and the deeper I get the less I like it what I see. The previous owner had cab corners and rocker panels replaced on the cab. And I’m not impressed with the work at all. The frame is also bent pretty good on the front. Looks like I’m using my old frame and cab. The blue truck does have some good stuff on It though. Aluminum under bed tank, Holley sniper fuel injection setup, and the engine sounds pretty stout. Did order wheels and tires so in can get started on the chassis and get my ride height the way I want it. :metal:

Quick update, ordered an interior kit from TMI should be in soon. Been cleaning and checking out the bed and have decided to use my old frame and cab, I have already done the cab corners and floor, slicked out the firewall and such. I will use the engine and transmission from the new truck along with the under bed fuel tank. I will have some parts for sale such as SWB chassis and cab, along with the 6 lug rally wheels. Watch for them in the classified adds. Plan is to paint it dark metallic blue with a silver roof and grill. Just excited to be working on the truck again! More updates as I get things done.

Are those Ridler wheels, I have the same ones if so. Be careful tightening the lug nuts, the paint tends to chip real bad around the holes for the lugs if the socket rubs against them. I am going to have mine powdercoated on the spoke area as the paint is like 10 layers thick and is not adhered well. Once it chips, it comes off in big chunks.

Well got the blue truck sold and out the way, and my old truck back in my shop after 11yrs in storage. Got it off the trailer and started going through things and my son walked up and asked if it still ran. I replied let’s see and put a battery in it , it turned over! We then removed the air cleaner and poured a little gas down the carb and she fired right up. Pulled a valve cover and it still looks clean inside now I have to decide which motor I want to use for my build.

I have a question for you guys. Several years ago I came across a dash panel and glove box door made of wood that is pretty amazing. I ran a poll asking opinions on which one I should use the wooden one or a stock with the auto meter gauges that came with the wood panel. The general population said the stock panel with the gauges looked best. So my plan has changed some and I still think the original panel and auto meter gauges would look best. I will have a TMI dove grey interior with gunmetal grey carpet and silver paint in the cab. Which one do you think would look best. Also thinking of selling the wooden one if I don’t use it.

I'm kind of wondering what is going on with that reversed bowtie on the wooden one. I think I would like the wooden one if it had a darker finish. And what is going in the center spot of that stock looking one? It is interesting to see MPH on the right side.

I just threw the gauges in the black panel just to see what they would look like for that pic. I have since put them in the correct position and mounted the in place. The last time I posted pics of the wooden one 15 or so years ago the first thing they picked up on was the backwards bow tie. You guys don’t miss anything. LOL :metal:

Auto meter sells a clock that would fit the center hole nicely, but not sure what I’m going to do with it yet. I do have a Holley sniper EFI set up that has a digital display I may mount over the hole not sure yet.

Put the wheels on just to see how the stance was, I like it! Also filled in the rear marker light hole and removed a dent while I was at it.

Got my door panels and dash pad in today from TMI. Seat should be here tomorrow. TMI is expensive but man they sure are nice. I think we’ll worth the money.:metal:

Got the bed floor blasted this weekend and as expected there was rot! Cot it out and began replacing the bad spots. Don’t need a perfect bed floor plan to put a bed liner in it.

The entire kit was just under 3k. Like I said pricey but man they are nice.
