I have been building this blazer since last june and am trying to finish it by june of 2009. It started as a rolling 4x4 chassis and a 598 bbc that I built.I found an extra blazer and stole the frame, which I stripped of the running gear and all items.I then had it sand blasted along with all front 2wd suspension. I have the truck as a complete roller currentley. I installed new drop spindle and springs, aftermarket rallies, art morrison ladder bar coil over setup on a 9inch with strange pro iron case and 35 spline axles. The gears are 3.89 with detroit locker.I have willwood dynalites in the rear and Mickey T drag radials.I also have a 10 point cage to install,I need to set the tub on and take it to the shop 4 cage install. My blazer has a 1967 front clip, with
UP22 four inch cowl fiberglass hood.I shaved the wiper cowl, firewall, dash, and smoothed off the top. I will post more pics as I can.

I wont be home for 2 more weeks, then I can shoot more body pics. The yellow blazer is the body I found here in Alaska for 1000 and it was 98.5 % rust free. The gold one I bought for the frame and paid 300.These trucks are very common here but rusted out underneath,we all deal with this though:chevy:.LOL
The 1967 shortbed is friends and is bagged and awaiting a 6.0L install

What are you doing for a cage. NHRA is picky with full frame cars... be sure and read the rule book. I didnt think the 'Full' cage would look good with the top off, so I went with a roll bar with door/shoulder kick-outs that connect to the front of the frame just behind the front control arms. This limits me to 11 second ETs if the tech guys see it as a ,convertible... I beleive it would be good for 10 second ETs if they see it with the top on and list it as a 'hardtop'.
Havnt been to tech with mine yet, maybe this summer... just food for thought . Mine is similar to yours.
Tom from Paso Robles, Ca.

PS... I am Sooo jealous of where you live.

Looks like alot of fun.

I was wondering about your back brake setup. I'm running a 9" in my mud blazer also and want to put the dynalite on it too. I've seen the weld on brackets in speedway and plan on using the hats with matching wilwood rotors. My question is what brackets, hats, and rotors did you use. Mainly if you have a part # for the hats if they are back spaced enough for the weld on brackets or if there are some better brackets.

Thanks
Jason

Dynalite complete kit for ford new big bearing. Its a 2.5 offset. This kit was sweet and costs about 650 the brackets bolt on the rotors are 2 piece also.

Well once again im doing my part to support the US economey. I just purchased the trans from ATI , a th400 reverse manual with a vasco input and all the toughest parts my money can buy. They say this can handle 2000hp with the custom converter I bought. Lets just say $4500 is alittle steep in my mind !!! I guess we all gotta pay 2 play when we start really upin the power levels. I built this engine to be around 800hp and 750 ftlbs on pump gas, it is low compression and built to rev with a stout valve train. I also bought my mezeire electric pump and march pulley and bracket kit for the pump, alt, and power steering. would any 1 believe im spending 5k amonth in parts and have been since last june? Its been all out of pocket and no credit. I work in the oilfields as an equipment mechanic at the top of alaska in the arctic. I normally work 5weeks on and 1week off 12hrs a day, to afford this crazy obession.
Well thanks 2 all who have stopped by 2 check out my project and I will try and keep up with my proggresive pics.:metal:

wish i still had it 2. I came acrossed these pics of my blazer on the day i got it home and stripped it. I can say with out a doubt this is the best body I have ever bought up here in AK. Well i will post some new body pics this weekend after i get home on friday. Thanks for checkin my project. Good luck to all in there builds.

What are you doing for an anti-roll bar for the rear end (if anything)? I am thinking about the Chris Alston setup for mine. Its a sort of cut to fit that should be able to bolt under and across the frame, then you weld the arm brackets to the axle tubes.
I need to do something for twist on mine... I suspect you will too.

I have a diagnal link in between my ladder bars, there really isnt much more i need. The truck im building is stripped down and shouldnt be very fun to street drive as the engine is solid mounted to the crossmember, solid rod ends throughout the rear suspension, front drag shocks (ie no cornering),no wipers,no heater,no radio,a 3 1/2 exhaust with mufflers thats about 30 inch long total,10 point cage to climb over, kirkey race seats,no carpet or deading mat(just rhino lining tub),and the gear drive/electrical motors whine should be lovely.

When its all said and done this will be an all steele 3400-3800 pound drag racing blazer that can be driven on the street alittle or to the strip and then raced. I have a big inch low compression motor, with a .714 lift & .268 /.276 billet solid roller cam.The heads from GM with out any work are:metal: 385cfm and now over 400cfm. My intentions are a fast pumpgas fullbodied ride, lets say low tens/high nines,no trans brake and drag radials. The gears are 3.89 tire size is 29.5 and converter will be around 3200,as the motor will make over 500 ftlbs at 2500 rpm and around 750ftlbs at 5500.

Keep the pics coming it gives me more motivation to work on mine.
I hope to get going on mine this year and make some progress. I am doing the same thing but with stock suspension and I want to run 8's.
