How about some pics of custom stereos

Not sure if this is the right area or not. I wanted to see custom stereo installs from all the different year trucks and figured this was the best place to post.

Please post Make/Model/Year/Stereo Specs

Mine: :bling:

Chevrolet/Silverado/1985

Pioneer DEH880-PRS Headunit

Damn that is very slick. Might have to look into those shallow mount woofers, how do they sound ?

I do like the sound of a hot small block for cruisin around town, but for those 3-4 hour trips...I need some tunes.

Wow, that head unit really matches well in that dash. I too, was interested in those shallow mount Pioneers. Was gonna order one next week. What do you think of them, and how big is the box you have?

I like your thinking!:metal:

When I had my truck, I loved listening to the engine go...now I only have a silent V6 - so I need tunes. I'm using the stock stereo and an MP3 player with an FM transmitter...hardly worth posting pics of  It does suit my purpose though as I don't have piles of CDs hanging around the car, and I can stash the MP3 player and transmitter while I'm at work.

Re: Custom stereos, let's see 'em

Nice clean install, all the way around. Good quality equipment too.

I put tunes in my 89, but its all cheap stuff. Pioneer cd player, 2 10" subs & 2 sony amps with 4 infinity speakers. Its not much but its still better than "nuttin"...

Re: Custom stereos, let's see 'em

Th shallow mount woofers will pound, there's no two ways about that. The bass isn't as tight as I'd like, but take that with a grain of salt because my last system (in my MR2) had two JL Audio 6w0's which are arguably some of the best woofers around.

Ehh I'll agree with you on the argueably part haha.

Re: Custom stereos, let's see 'em

I'm big into sound quality. If a system can pound my ears out also, that's a bonus. Thw 6w0's deliver some of the sharpest bass I have ever heard.

Rc 415 04-17-2007 02:52 PM

Re: Custom stereos, let's see 'em

W0's sound ok for the price, but they are the lowest line of JL Audio product, (I'm not even sure they still make them) If you are big into Sq I suggest you look into ID Max for substage.

This has to be my favorite set up of all times with my car audio experience. With this set up I would hit about 132DB. This wasn't my hardest hitting set up, but the best sounding set up. This was all in a 1990 Honda Accord.

Denon CD player w/Denon in dash 6 CD Changer
pair MTX 3.5 in dash
pair 6.5/tweet MB Quartz in front doors
pair 5.25/tweet MB Quartz in back doors
pair Rockford DVC 12 in back
1 rockford punch 400x4 - to my 6.5's and 5.25's
1 rockford punch 100x4 - to my tweets and 3.5's
1 rockford punch 60 - to my Subs
1 EQ5 electronic crossover
2 1.5 farad caps

chevy/c10 short'fleet/'67

wrapped an extra wire i had laying around to the antenna lead
http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL83/.../250032285.jpg

ran a clamp on the other end of the wire, removed factory cig lighter (wasnt hooked up anyways), installed a grommet to hold the clamp when not in use
http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL83/.../250032277.jpg

attach the clamp onto $20 FM transmitter from wal-mart and BOOYA! 88.3FM is now my own personal radio station :metal:

i tried that with almost the same set up....but i could get reception,so i slamed the transmitter cable in the door jamb and drove down the road with it flapping in the breeze

hey, acex will those 10" shallow pioneers fit under the seat? cuz i really want those but my gas tank is right behind the seat

AceX 05-09-2007 03:13 PM

Re: Custom stereos, let's see 'em

Honestly, I can't say for sure.

They should fit under the seat without a problem, but I can't sat with 100% certainty. Best thing to do is take some measuremeants and post 'em up and then I can tell you for sure.
