Truck and car shop in orange, CA experiences

Has anyone dealt with them? Some of their prices are considerably lower. Just wondering...

Has anyone bought parts from them?

Yes, I have bought from them. Be careful with the website pricing as it is outdated. Select an item and once it is in the cart I found most prices to be same as the other vendors.

Yes.
I've bought in their store and yes the web prices are often outdated, but they have plenty of new catalogs available for the asking. The store is often very crowded and you have to take a number, but the parking can also be a car show.
I have had few returns, but has never been a problem and when you call and order parts for shipping, I've found shipping charges more reasonable than their competitors.

They are my first choice since they are about 5 minutes from my office. Having said that I hate going there as they are always busy and you take a number and may wait 45 minutes to get help. If I'm not in a rush I order off the website. If they are out of stock they always call and let me know. I've always been happy with the quality of parts and the prices are fair.

if you see a 'counterpart automotive' sticker on your re-pop parts truckandcarshop owns them.

Yeah, i've purchased quite a bit from them over the years. Rear sport bumper and brackets, dash parts, window regulator, A/C and Heater only reseal kits, etc.

For me there's factory quality... then everything else. Very few companies do factory faithful replacement parts. A lot of the counterpart stuff just isn't factory quality.

Factoring in the value of either restoring an original part, or buying a top quality repacement... counterparts is acceptable for the price. I won't sing their praises, but everything has been serviceable.

Window regulator feels cheap though.

I've bought stuff from them.
Quality OK. Prices not exhorbitant. Good turnaround.
They have even sent me stuff I forgot I never got, many months later.
What I really like is Truck + Car Shops of Orange CAL often has small items that LMC and Brothers just don't carry. Little things, especially in the '67 - '68 range, where some plants might be using the latest [pre-'69 stuff], and other plants are using up the '67 stuff.
Steering column parts, for instance. Their catalog is ranged '60 - '72, so you can look at the evolution of that system.
They Do have the shorter Horn Cup under-the-horn-button for the '67 - '68s. And the Horn Cap rubber collar.
While they may not have the all-black plastic Standard Dash Knobs, Truck Shop is the first place I'd look. LMC would just have you go large and get all new Deluxe knobs with the center chrome dot.
Good outfit.
I'd buy from them again.

I've had several good experiences with them. I bought quite a bit from them when they were at the Pate Swap meet and was able to get a hefty cash discount. Most of the parts I bought have been pretty decent quality considering the prices. They ship for free if the order is over $300. Just a week ago I received about $100 worth of parts and the shipping was only 7 bucks. It came from California to Texas in 3 days.

There is another location in Concord , Nc for us guys on the east coast to save on shipping . I've bought from them a number of times and used them for all the parts , Speedometer / Tach/ fuel gauge / Vacuum gauge , When I rebuilt my gauge cluster . :chevy:

Overall, I like dealing with them.
I had one hiccup when I bought a Windshield Gasket, and received the wrong one. (Bought it over the counter at their Concorde, NC store)
(Wrong type trim design for what I needed)
My first thought was “Great, I just wasted that money.”, but I called the Customer Service Number, and explained my plate.
She said “No problem, we’ll send you the right one, and don’t worry about sending the wrong one back”.
Very good experience :metal:
I did end up taking the WS Gasket back to the Store the next time I was there, and they tried to give me my money back ( no, I wouldn’t let them), but I said “Give me a Sticker, and we’ll call it even”. :smoke:
They also stand behind other Companies (like Auto Sound stereo) who use them to sell their products.

I've purchased from them. Their pricing is usually lower than most of their competitors, but I agree with post above that their website is not up to date and if you call in your order the price is higher than their catalogue. I've also found that they are more likely to be in stock on items that others are out of (especially during Covid). Overall good service.

I have only done on line with them. Like others have mentioned, they lots of time had parts that LMC and CC did not have. The only thing that bugged me with them is it would not give a shipping guote until after ther order was processed. Don't feel like I was ever ripped off, but it was always uncomfortable. Have not used them since pre COVID.

This bothered me too. I left a message in the comment section when checking out asking them to let me know the total before they shipped the parts, so I could cancel if the shipping was outrageous. I believe it is their standard policy to do this anyways but I left a note just in case. They in fact did verify the order and shipping cost the first thing in the morning when they opened up via email.

I'm going to the Pate Swap meet tomorrow at the Texas Motor Speedway and hopefully pick up a few more things from them if they are there.;)

They always have a huge display at the Carlisle truck nationals in August I buy from them there . Never had them ship anything to me so I cant comment on that aspect . But the parts are on par with everyone's.

Glad to hear the quality is now on par with most. I began buying from them in the early 90's because I could stop by their store front on the way home from work. That didn't last long because of the quality. Fit and finish was dismal, rubber products were already cracking out of the bag, chrome on the bumpers & emblems only lasted a season, so on and so forth. I might have give them another try.

I've purchased parts from the Concord, NC location several times. Fortunately only a 1-1/2 hour drive for me. Most recent purchase was the inner fenders for my '70 C10. Great fit and finish. Oversize stuff like that can really ramp up the shipping charges.

I used to go to the one in Orange County. Never had a problem with their stuff. As far as reproduction stuff goes it's okay. And it is "take a number' crowded there. But Blake's BBQ is just down the block and that's some good BBQ. It's crowded too. Everything behind the "Orange Curtain' is crowded.

They were at Pate today, they did not unload much because of the expected storms. They did have everything I needed. Been getting parts from them for some time with no issues.
