Nice progress, but one question. If it's a CCLB, why does the frame need to be cut down?

Looking good Ryan! It was a CCLB, but now he cut it to make it a CCSB.

ahhh didn't catch that part. I still wish I would have gotten the CCLB instead of the CCSB when I had the option... I went with the SB because it was intercooled 2001 instead of the LB 97 non intercooled.

Re: Project: B.A.D. 1976 K30 CCLB

I worked on it more this morning. I'm almost finished up with the welding and grinding. I want this to appear un noticeable when you look at the frame. I was going to plate the out side, but I think that may interfere with side tanks. So, I'm going to use the pieces I cut out of the frame and make sleeves that go inside the frame. They will bolt in and if I have room after I get the fuel tanks on, then I may plate the out side. I doubt it'll need it with a sleeve though. More pics.

Here's my brother starting to remove the old pieces left over from a 6.9 IDI cross member I had in it years ago.

Here's a pic of the DIY4X shackles I got. Notice how beefy they are!

Re: Project: B.A.D. 1976 K30 CCLB

Here we go! The box is sat on it and it's looking like a truck again! We removed the 3" body lift and it looks like I may need to remove a leaf from the rear springs to get this to sit level with an engine and drive train in it. Now I have to decide if I want to cut the frame for the box to sit on it right, or cut the box and leave the frame so I can have enough room to mount a sturdy step bumper? Decisions, decisions! I have to get or find radiator support bushings so I can get the front sheet metal bolted on it. This truck is going to have to go back out side for a while and wait until I get some other things done before any more work gets done to it.

No more body lift.

Frame primered to keep rust off while it sits out doors.

More clean up on the front frame cross member area.

I might just cut it off seeing how the last 1" or so may not be needed. When I get to that point I might just call you for at least a rear bumper. For now, the $$$ will be going into getting the poor thing driving.

Looking good buddy! I just noticed that your truck is a 4x4 convertee as well. Got any pictures of that front cross member that holds the springs? It almost looks like that would give you some extra lift over the stock mounts but i noticed that you have what looks to be stock shackles on the rear.

no problem, it'd give me a reason to cut parts for 2 at once, I'm gonna build a set for my CCDRW that I got the parts from you for, just have to decide on how many lights I want other than the backups

Good eye! There is a 4"x4" 1/4" wall square tubing that is bolted and welded to the frame. The spring perches are welded to it. I originally did this when I first converted it because it was a cheap lift kit. I put stock shackles on it when I removed the lift kit. I'd say right now it has at least 3"-4" of lift still right now. The tires on it are 265's and it looks like 33's will fit without any problem.

Here's a pic of it a while ago when it had the 6.9 in it too.

What will the bumper look like for it? I was actually thinking about having you build one for it any how.

Here is a little something to look at while I work on rounding up money to buy new parts and paint for this truck.

http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...0/DSC00331.jpg

I went ahead and cut off the rear portion of the frame because it looked goofy when I notched it.
http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...0/DSC00325.jpg

In case any one is curious, 4 out of the 8 bolt holes worked for the bed. I only have to drill 4 new holes and the bed will be totally bolted down.

probably something like this depending on how many lights and how much of a drop/step you want, this one is based off a 11" DMI that I use to have on the truck but I have prints for a stock height (7") and 9" drop, and just curious what you doing up front?
http://i490.photobucket.com/albums/r...708111712a.jpg
the one pictured seams to be the most popular configuration of lights in the rear because I have sold 5 or 6 of them set up like this

Re: Project: B.A.D. 1976 K30 CCLB

I think on the front I was just going to use a stock one since I have a nice bumper/spoiner for it. On the rear bumper, I'd only want back up lights and not the extra ones like that one you have on yours.

yeah that's nothing hard, just don't have to cut the holes, that one is actually on my mudder so that when I get the custom length stepper box that I'm building done I don't want lights on it so I put them in the bumper

I might try to get the engine put together this weekend. We'll see.

Yep, it had a D44HD under it ever since I converted it to 4wd. Now it's in Brother's69C10's 88 V30 and I have my D60 under this truck finally.

Unfortunately, I made no progress on the engine this weekend. IDK when I'm going to get it together.
