worked on some wiring. Then used the tailgate for a workbench while I painted the new fence. Still looking for a rear end for the ol' workhorse/toy...

Today I bought some 72 sport mirrors, new tail light and reverse lenses from good ole' Bill at vintage chevy in fremont ca, and dropped them off with the paint shop. While at Bill's shop I learned that he is also a distributor for Larry's seat covers, and gets really nice discounts:smoke:
They already have the interior prepped for paint! I was amazed, I just dropped her off tuesday @4pm so they started ripping into it yesterday and today! wow!
they also tackled a lot of body work on the exterior.... the burb is gonna look sick!:metal:

Drove around on errands.
Came Home and washed it.
Prepped the Tires, Cleaned the lettering, ans resprayed the back of the bed.
Put some "Piston" Lock Knobs on.
Putting it in it's 1st show on Saturday!:metal:

What show are you going to? I'm going to the Gold Rush Carshow in my hometown of Oroville.
Edit: I just saw where Cobb is and I'm guessing that you are going to the show in clearlake

Today I buffed my 68 GMC with rubbing compound, did some painting in the engine compartment, and swapped air filters. On my wife's 41 GMC I painted the trim arount the windshield, put a coat of wax on, put on the sideboards, and fired it up for a test run (It hasn't been driven in a year). I only have one more day to get the trucks ready for the show on saturday, her's is show quality and I've had it in 3 shows, mine is still "under construction" and it is it's 1st show.

Yes: Clearlake Cruise-In 3 Day show.
1st one that the City Of Clearlaske has ever put on.

Hoping the show is a winner!

I wish they had an "Under Construction" Class but it's their 1st show.
Gonna try and get on the Pkanning Board for it next year.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

i got another big box from the truck shop.....

inside and outside door handles, vent window handles, vent window rubbers, upper and lower tailgate gaskets. the two (non a/c) vent hoses are on back order. this order also included a 3/8" stainless pump to carb fuel line so i got that and my pep boys fuel pump mounted to the 307 in my 72 burb 2wd, 3/4 ton so i don't have to use the 5/16" fuel line and adapter for my 4 barrel swap. i just realized that the truck has a hose going to the tank instead of the factory hard line. the hose went onto the new pump super easy so no problems there.

just need to hook up the vacuum gage and make sure the number 1 plug is at tdc and adjust the distributor accordingly before i try and start it up again. last weekend i blew out the back end of a perfectly good muffler because i had the power lead on the negative terminal on the coil (ooops) and it built up unburned gas in the exhaust. i've had backfires in my bike that sounded like a shotgun.......well, this sounded like a revolutionary war cannon going off and both my dad and i thought we were dead for a good moment. i was hoping to get a couple more years out of the dinky stock style exhaust and then shell out some mula for one of those stainless x-pipe magnaflow systems :fry:

Last night I put the hood and tailgate on, waxed it, and polished the wheels, I finished up at 1:00 AM so I guess it was today...

Today I got up at 4:30 AM and took it to its first show, I just got home to get the kids up and head back.

Yesterday I test fitted my A/C compressor from Vintage Air. This weekend I will paint the brackets and pulleys. I also put in a PCV valve and hose to the carb.
