I hate to do it, but here goes:

72 GMC 2500 (3/4 Ton) Custom Deluxe 4X4 Suburban
- 113,500 original miles
- Custom ordered from factory (order # on options list)

New:
- Duct work
- A/C Controller
- Diverter Box/"S" connector to floor vent
- Cables
- Dash Pad
- "Brown Bread" Lead/Asphalt Sound Deadener 1 to 3 layers
- Factory Reproduction Carpet
- 4 Core Radiator
- Driver's side mirror
- Starter
- Rear Brakes
- Dual Exhaust (from collectors back, professional install)

Other:
- Newer Style Steering Wheel (have original wheel)
- Front/Middle Seats from a ˇ¦94 Suburban (have original front and middle)
- Shoulder Harnesses (front and middle), Grade 8 Bolts, Juliano's Load Spreaders
- Extra Capacity Tank (approx. 40 gallons)
- Towing ˇV Reese-style hitch, two plugs, trailer brake
- Rebuilt TH350 Transmission
- HEI Distributor
- Edlebrock 1407 Carb, Performer RPM Intake
- Headers
- Dana 60 Rear End
- Dana 45 Front End

Custom Ordered Options:
- Barn Doors
- Front and Rear Air
- Front and Rear Heat
- Window Tinting (light, but good condition)
- Remote Throttle (non-operational)
- Tilt Steering
- Custom Deluxe Trim
- Interior Wood Grain Trim (only door panels left, fair condition, one small scrap on dash bezel, replacement on glove box)
- Parchment Color (door panels good, rear panels (third seat area) fair)
- Three Seats (have all three original seats)

The body is straight, and has an "OK" paint job. The original color was medium olive and it was painted a darker green on the outside. Interior color is original. A little rust showing through in a few small spots. If you are REALLY interested, I'll take some closeups of them and send them to you. Some fairly obvious body puddy on driver's side rear quarter.
Headliner is there, but has some problems.
Interior paint is fine, but fair.
Oveall interior, with new seats, dash and carpet, looks great, many compliments.
Inside of barn door panels are dinged up with bad paint.
Needs new window channels.

It runs great, I drive it to work every day, using 4x4 when necessary. Everybody in new trucks give it a good stare whereever I go, get compliments all the time.

I'll be posting some pics to follow. REMEMBER digital pictures always look better than the real thing. I've got nothing to hide, but don't want anyone thinking there are no little dings or rust spots here and there.

If you look closely, you can see my '72 pickup in the background. Owned it for 15 years now!

This is a great suburban with lots o' options . The engine runs great, very smooth. It looks great.

I'm asking $6,500 (have much more into it) but will consider any offers, just want to get and give a fair price. If interested, please email me at:

Acres and acres of luscious GMC chrome on a ‘burban!!! What could be better? Let me know if you're interested. Thanks for looking.

What a find! Chevy made < 600 3/4 ton burbs configured with 4x4 and barn doors in 72. I'd estimate <100 GMC's were made like this.

If somebody buys this one please keep it original. It would be a crime to radically alter this gem!

If only I were 2000 miles closer and 6K richer...:(

Rod, this one's got your name on it!

Rod 05-01-2003 09:46 AM

They'd all have my name on them if I had my way...LOL.

Joesjunk 05-01-2003 10:47 AM

Do you have a pic of the option sheet on the glove box door???

Joesjunk, here are a couple of attempts at the options sheet...I hope they look OK, it was tough to get a macro pic with my old digital camera.

And another sort of half pic. I've got all of the original seats, along with the original stearing wheel (cracked). The AC controller is a GMC Pauls replacement, but I've got the original controller as well (didn't turn it in for the $20). The carpet is correct color GMC Pauls factory replacement. Also have about three sets of factory parchment-color arm rests for the middle and rear seats, some with the ash trays still in them. I've also got another set of barn doors off of another burb that go with it, in case you need another set. So...if someone wants to bring it back to factory orginal you'll have very little, if any, parts scrounging to do AND you can claim that it came with original wood grain trim (didn't do a fake upgrade).

Any takers before I put it in other places? I'm open to offers.

Thanks again for looking.

ol skool 68 05-02-2003 05:14 AM

mt Al 05-02-2003 10:24 PM

Sorry ol skool, I need my own charity! Does everyone go through withdrawls BEFORE they sell a '72?

mt Al 05-08-2003 05:35 PM

mt Al 05-28-2003 10:16 AM

Its on ebay now. Let me know if you are interested.

teeitup 05-28-2003 04:12 PM

I hope you have better luck than I am selling your burb. I can't hardly get anybody to bid on mine on ebay.:(

Mike C 05-28-2003 04:44 PM

I REALLY want it Al, and if you can find me and Advertising job, or any professional job, in the Austin area, your payback will be me buying the truck! (You never know where somebody is going to have contacts...)

mt Al 05-28-2003 05:32 PM

Teeitup,

I've seen yours for sale and honestly almost bought it from the previous owner. That thing looks great with the lift and I don't get that people aren't bidding on it.??? IMHO the '68 chevy is the finest. I'm going to tell a friend of mine about yours. He's bidding on a '65 burban with a 427 in it right now (farm auction in Montana).

Check this one out:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6155

and tell me how its gotten up to over $5,000. I'm not into monster trucks, but is that why its so high? And the reserve isn't even met yet!! I'd honestly sell mine for $5,000 and its in far better shape.

Mike C

Ever try Amway? Just kidding. I'd love for you to have it. Let me know if you have any luck. There's always something, you've just got to look hard. I've switched jobs enough in my life...
