I used to compete in Car Audio back in the day. Although I do not have any specific knowledge for trucks themselves I can help with technical questions.

I will start frequenting over there and answer what I can.

I did car audio/video for ten years but switched to a diffrent career about 5 years ago. I've worked on numerous SEMA vehicles in that time and have built hundreds of MDF, fiberglass and carbon fiber boxes and panels. I would be more than happy to help, just let me know.

I can listen to the radio lol. I used to compete also in USAC back in the day. I installed custom audio and video systems. Never enjoyed slamming a deck in or just an amp and speakers. I like the custom end. If need be I can help out, just let me know.

I do all my own installs and did pro installs back in the day as well. 90% of my installs have been in trucks.

As a matter of fact, as soon as my insurance check clears I am buying a '98 to put tunes in until my '66 is ready. I will be posting pics here.

<edit> Guru is a strong word, but I have done everything from 100W pro class IASCA winners, to 1000W+ consumer class IASCA winners. I like to focus on realistic application of power and sound. Best bang (sound) for the buck.

Never worked in the car audio industry but I've always done my own installs and have been an aircraft electrician for over 20 years. Besides all that, I'm willing to help anyone out that needs it.:flag:

Liz, I've been doing car audio professionally since 1992. Hifi Buys Installer of the year 1997 & 1998, Managed numberous shops and still doing installs now. If there is anything I can help with let me know.

Here is my "budget" system,all kenwwod excelon,two shallow twelves under the seat,6.5 comp.,tweeters mounted in sunviser holes,and the mids in the fresh air boxes sealed off, all under a grand!!:metal:

I ll be happy to contribute. 30+ years an enthusiast, was the CFO at Zapco in Modesto about 10 years ago. Built IASCA finals winner (1999) in 150-300 watt class. I'm an SQ guy, know a lot about amps, technical stuff and sound quality set ups, subs, etc.

Built 3 CES (consumer electronics vehicles) and one vehicle for Too Fast and Too Furious. (Got mislead on that build by owner)
Just a serious old school audiophile who appreciates sound quality systems, clean fiberglass work, speakers, custom work and hot chicks who dig stereos! Just kidding...Lol, couldn't resist.

hey tom, are you into tube amps for home use? I sold all of my solidstate stuff and replaced it with a dynaco tube preamp, dynaco pair of monoblocs (60 amps) and a pair of klipsch speakers that have their signature exponential midrange and exponential tweeters, and 2 12" woofers. Solid state is 3rd order harmonics, where tube amps are 2nd order harmonics, what a difference. The dynaco stuff is completely re-issued at dynakit.com, and is better than when they were new in the 60's. Brian F.
