Buy a rebuild kit for it. I have rebuilt mine and it holds up pretty good seeing it has over 300,000 on it. ;):chevy:

I think the last one i bought was around $15-$20. Any parts store should have or can get one. I used to have to add to my 71 4x4 everytime i used it. Haven't added anything in a couple of years now since putting the kit in...

depending on what your time is worth, you can also just get a reman'd unit from parts store, right?

That's what I did. Saved me a bunch of labor hours because I didn't have time/space to do it my self.

You can remove the powersteering belt, and just loop the hoses together and drive it with out powersteering for a while. You just wont have power steering... I swapped a powersteering unit from a 1979 truck, it bolted right up.

I just put a remanufactured one on my old car , I got it from o'rielly's for $40 with exchange. it was easy to do and hasn't leaked a drop since I put it on a couple months ago. it was pooring before. check there website, good luck ...... forgot to mention it comes with the reservoir all I had to do is put my pulley on it which you will need a pulley puller for.

ok sorry, I misread your original post and thought you were talking about the PS pump . Yes looks like they have them also for $125 with your core. call them to verify, sorry for the confusion.

Advance Auto has the close ratio gear box for 124.99 and 20% off, and free shipping online. I put one on my truck last month, so far so good.

If your gear box doesn't have a lot of slop in it maybe try the seal kit first? I guess it only consists of an upper and lower shaft seal. Might need a puller to get the pitman arm off though.
This is something I need to do to mine also.

Part No. SG17501 Advance Auto parts web site. It does not say it is the 3.5. However I called their toll free number, they called Fenco and confirmed as 3.5. Installed and it is 3.5. Be sure to use a coupon, you can google advance auto coupons and find some good ones.

If it just leaking out the pitman arm shaft, thats a pretty cheap and easy fix. You can get just the pitman shaft seal for a couple of bucks. Pull the pitman arm off the shaft (leave it attached to the center link) remove the c clip that holds the seal /washer in place on the box, put the pitman arm back on snug, fill the p/s pump start the engine and turn it from lock to lock until the seal POPS and the fluid gushes. Remove pitman arm, washer and seal, clean and reinstall new parts. NOTE: this is a messy way of doing the job. but WAY faster that trying to dig that old seal out with a pick.
