Forcing a prisoner to lay under a car to scrape would be unconstitutional.

The rest will be fun, comparatively speaking. :chevy:

Along for the ride here, I love the Novas, I have had a few in my life time and about to go look at a 73 tomorrow for my next project. Just missed out on a 71:smoke: I like the ls swap though , very cool :chevy:

He is still giving me **** about convincing him to do it! Looks good though and much nicer working under it without all the crap falling in your face.

I am partial to the 66-67 but man they are hard to find without breaking the bank. We spend a few months looking before finding this one.

Painted some of the accessory brackets black with the same paint. Covers well and looks really nice.

Got the engine, brake lines, and trans crossmember in. Managed to do it without scratching it up too.

Your right, you used to be able to buy the early 70's models fairly cheap but not anymore. That is why I want to snag this one before it is gone. I like all of them myself :chevy:

I'm away for work. My brother is still chipping away at it. Did the valve covers, exhaust, and brake lines to the rear.

Ordered a harness and PCM from PSI.

I was gone for work so my brother kept assembling.

Huge throttle body for the smaller LS6 intake required an adapter

Re: My brother's Nova

So the truck accessories are a bit more difficult to fit. The alternator sits too high and water pump interferes with the throttle body. We knew this going into it and had planned on running a taller intake and hood if necessary but luckily with a few mods it seems to fit.
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...oads/4156.jpeg
Notched the hood support. I will likely rework it later.
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...oads/4160.jpeg
The radiator hose is tight. Going to try to run it and will either cut and weld it or change it later.

Re: My brother's Nova

Not many picture worthy updates but we got most of the wiring harness in, fuel lines almost done, brakes are in and bleed, etc. Hopefully get it running in the next few weeks.

Thanks Diesel. Its definitely faster than my build. Nice thing about his is that he had been buying parts along the way and had money saved to do it. Plus having two people working is a lot quicker than one.

Re: My brother's Nova

Planned to work on it last night to try to get most of it ready for the first fire and have the rest of this week to order parts and try to fire it on Sunday. As we started getting everything together I figured we could try to fire it just to ****s and giggles.
Harness going together.

Hotwired the fuel pump to check for leaks. The top of the fuel tank has a leaky fitting so we will have to drop the tank again. Cranked it over three times and you can tell it was trying to fire. Almost gave up for the night (it was super late) and figured we'd turn it over one more time. And....
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...502_231423.jpg
Ran it for a few seconds because we didn't have the cooling system hooked up yet and we were leaking fuel in the rear. Super loud and the neighbors walked over to check it out and say congrats (they have been stopping by when we worked on it).

Thanks! Its loud as hell now. The video doesn't really show how loud it is.

My brother is pumped. He had been sitting on the car for 4-5 years and to have it start was huge.

Re: My brother's Nova

Damn photobucket. Ill post up some pics of the car if people want. Anyway. Got a bit done on it this weekend. Nothing to interesting: new u-joints, mounted the ECU, ran radiator lines, mounted battery in the trunk. I started the exhaust for it. 2.5'' stainless. Need a bit more tube and some mufflers. Everything should be ordered by the end of today.

Seriously. Imagine breaking one billion photo links....I don't see how they are going to sustain without that traffic.

Anyway...Did an intake tube. Had to snake it up then down and forward.

Your welding is way better than mine. ( I just need more practice)
Strong work! Is the MAF attached on one end of the 90 degree L or not yet installed.
In my research about MAF location, optimal is recommended to be 10-12 inches from the throttle body.

What say you?

Keep on keepin on

Re: My brother's Nova

It's all about the hood time! I honestly weld aluminum maybe twice a year.

I heard 6-12 inches but I'm not sure. We will probably run it there unless it causes issues.

Re: My brother's Nova

Needed the mufflers to be offset to the side by 3 inches.

I don't remember any math...I used to love it. So I did some paper instead.

Had a tank of contaminated gas so I didn't get much done in the last week but finally got the exhaust all in.
Made a hanger.

The underside. Glad we spent so much time cleaning and painting.
