Here's some pics of a Dropmember install in Dino63's 66 pickup. The rear-end will be running a triangulated four-link and Shockwaves... 22's and be laying frame to match the front.

Damn! That's nice! If and when I get the rest of my truck done, I will need to look at that drop member setup for "Daisy".

Nathan . . ..... Those tie-rods look different than what I've seen in the other pics. Did you change from the welded heim-ends to something different?

They're still heims... heavy-duty 3/4 LH with 5/8 bore. The spindle gets drilled out to 5/8 and a 5/8 grade 8 bolt goes through. The heim is sandwiched between a pair of misalignment bushings. The adapter is 1.25x.120 wall and has tube inserts TIG welded at both ends. The rack is currently missing the jam nuts on the threads... they will get put on before the truck is driving!

The black paint must have thrown me off. The previous pics were bare metal so it was easier to see the welded inserts @ the end of the rack adapter.

Re: Dino63's 66SWB

As of right now the plan is to throw in a 350/350 combo that came out of another truck. There will be little or nothing done to the body for a while... maybe some primer... maybe not. Some new bumpers, grill, lights and glass will find its way onto the truck but that will be about it. We'll get the chassis and suspension set-up right then he can drive the wheels off it. Maybe it will get all straight and shiny in a couple of years???

Spent a long Saturday at the shop and made some more progress on the rear. Hopefully I will get it all finished up on my next long saturday!

Some more pics...

It's set-up for a 4.5" ride height and will be laying frame. The rear is a triangulated four link and bridge. There is a lot left to do as far as tube work and some details. Hopefully next week I will be able to post up some finished pics.

I also trimmed out the front fenders and made a support gusset to add a little strength back to the fenders.

The rear isn't laying yet... I still have to remove the trailing arm crossmember.

Hey Porter I was thinking of running the step notch like that, but I was hesitant because I thought that it would be better to just build the notch back area (strenght wise). Would you put the rear of the notch outside frame rails on another truck or just built a notch back area?

Thank you in advance. sorry for the jacking ..

It will be trimmed out and boxed in where the notch ties into the rear frame-rail when completed. I debated building frame-rails straight off the back, but thought I would try this way and see how it went. I think it will turn out nice this way, and make tank and bed mounting less trouble... we'll have to see! As for doing it like this in the future... it's a toss up.

Wow, absolutely incredible work. Hopefully sometime soon I can get my backhalf lookin like that w/ the 4 link. I love the mounts for the shockwaves. And the dropmember is incredible
