Truck Wont Start

We have a 1970 C10 with some wiring problems.

The truck will not start but has a good running 350 SB.

The truck has had problems starting up before but we've always been able to fix it, mainly by playing with the wiring from the ignition switch (we assumed we were having a bad ignition switch connection).

We were in the process of cleaning the wiring and tracing wires due to the poor quality of the wiring.
At some point, we must have created a short because the battery got drained to 6 Volts in a short period of time (1 hour or so)

The normal things such as windshield wipers, headlights, taillights & dome lights worked up until now but they wont even come on/work (which we guess is due to battery being drained so low).

So, we're facing finding the short in system or starting over with a new wiring harness.

Suggestions?

Start by checking the fusible link at the battery positive wire to the right fender junction bolt. This is is the safety fuse for all the Key off power functions including the key switch.

If you have no power on the junction bolt then something has shorted and burned the link out. You will need to find the short before you replace the link or it will just blow again.

My dad actually found the problem (for now) - the last owner had the wrong wires in the wrong places for the ignition.

But, like I said, for now.
