wheel fell off-dented fender-bad day

got off work early today, driving home, its only about 4 miles. i heard something hit the ground, i looked down and the front driver wheel was wobbling a little. hit the brakes softly, and about 40 feet later the wheel came off and hit the fender and rolled across the street. i only skiddedon the rotor for about 10 feet. it was raining, cop stopped but didnt give me a ticket, even though i was in the middle of the road and had shaved side markers, no front turn signal and a missing tail light cap. got it back on, drove home, parked it. i'll work on it later today. nothing is messed up at all except the fender is crused. good thing i have3 more behind my shop. i should've stayed in bed this morning

i had a buddy in high school with a cool looking lifted 92 chevy. cool looking, scary lift! 2x4's for a body lift, torsion bars cranked as high as they would go and so forth. had tires and rims pushed out so far so they would clear the sheetmetal. anyway one day those worn out ball joints couldnt handle the stress anymore and off came the wheel, spindle, brake and part of the cv shaft. truck fell onto the frame and skidded to a halt on the road. tire and related junk bounced down the road and smoked someone's car. the best part was this happened about a half block from the high school. i wasn't with him, but i admit at the time everything he had done to it looked fine to me. i didn;t learn anything about cars until after high school when i bought my first one.

its kinda funny. i was with my friend in his toyota 4x4 when this happened last year, but when we hit he ground there was $600 in daage to the front suspension. BUT since i have a chevy and i guess becuse i was going slw enough when it came off there is no damage to the suspension of my truck. i can still let go of the wheel at 60 and str8 as an arrow. ruined fender pissed me off, especially since i jst finished shaving it. oh well, at least i didnt wreck it

I had the same thing happen to my Longhorn this spring, carfaggled the fender, I have a spare fender, but still, the paint job is going to cost me. The worst part is that it was just so my own fault. I just forgot to tighten down the lugs.

love it loud 06-11-2003 10:54 PM

did the studs break off or did you forget to put the lug nuts on? :)

sorry to hear that though man..
