New Foam Bottom Seat WOW

Well I had a new seat bottom installed and WOW... what a difference.
Mike told me the seat cushion was totally shot. Costs $214 |
Re: New Foam Bottom Seat WOW
Not to rain down on your excitement, but my opinion is that you got ripped off. The seat foam is only $60 and only takes about an hour to change. So he charged you $154 an hour and no special skill is needed to do this. I spent $210 and got a brand new seat foam and brand new all leather seat bottom replacement in my ‘03 Denali.
Just sayin... |

Re: New Foam Bottom Seat WOW
If you're happy with it great.
I put a Durofoam seat foam in my truck. https://www.theseatshop.com/store/pr...?category=Foam You unbolt the cushion frame from the track and take it out cover, cushion, and frame. It's bloody easy to do. You flip the butt cushion assembly upside down on top of a towel on the workbench, unclip the fabric or leather, pull the foam out and reverse the process. I had to vacuum off the disintegrating butt foam from the fabric and frame but that was pretty much it. It took me a little over an hour because I'm slow. Made a world of difference in how it feels. |
Re: New Foam Bottom Seat WOW
Foam looks good, as long as you’re happy with the ride/comfort that’s all that matters :metal: I checked out the link and install videos and plan to order new foam and a replacement cover for the drivers side seat bottom on my 03. If I can redo bench and bucket seats from a 67-72 with hog rings this will be a breeze.

Experienced upholstery guys are great at making things look and feel right! I’m confident most people on the forum could get the job done, but fewer could make it look and feel right. The seat looks great!! Enjoy!!

I just picked a 2000 GMC and the seat bottom looks and feels worn. Cover is fine though. Thanks |

Rockauto. You didn’t state what model GMC. Nonetheless, I looked under 2000 GMC Sierra 1500, but didn’t see it listed. Went to 2003 GMC Sierra 1500, under interior, seat cushion. It’s Dorman PN 926897.
Here’s my seat after installing the new foam and leather. |

I plane on converting my cloth seats to leather. And new foam. About $1000 to do it. But when done I'll have one of the only work trucks with six way power leather seats with arm rest.

Re: New Foam Bottom Seat WOW
Leather is cold in the winter and there's plenty of that season in SD.
The cloth seat trucks don't have the heater elements and heater electronics that the Leather interior trucks have. |
